Residence Inn Los Angeles LAX/El Segundo
Ranked #9 of 13 Hotels in El Segundo
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 27, 2009

Just spent one night at the Residence Inn El Segundo. I had booked a one bedroom suite using my points and upon check in, being a Platinum member, asked for an upgrade and was given a 2 bedroom suite. The property is really one of the best residence inns we have stayed at. The room décor was chic and totally different from other Residence Inns. Plasma TVs in the bedrooms and living room, bright tones of red color décor, nice picture frames made it all look quite upscale and classy actually. The rooms are quite tight and cramped and I do not like having a queen bed in each room and prefer a king and 2 queen combination really. The only drawback of the property, as mentioned by others earlier, is the location .Yes it is near the airport but there is virtually nothing at all next to it. No filling station, grocery shop, restaurant…..nothing at all. We were there on a Sunday night so didn’t get to experience their hospitality hour. Moreover we checked out very early too so no breakfast experience either. I am sure it would have been a good one. Staff were excellent and overall it was an excellent short transit layover.

We needed to stay near the airport for our last night in CA and I had some Marriott points to spend, so I selected this hotel and I'm really glad I did. Although the property doesn't have great views, I selected it because it is close to the airport and the beaches. The room was spacious and clean with a kitchenette and living area. There was a happy hour with food in the evening and breakfast in the morning, both of which were complementary and more than the usual fare. There also was no fee for parking, which is becoming common for hotels near the airport. We turned in our rental car early, so we didn't have to hassle with it in the morning and, therefore, took the shuttle to the airport. It was on time and the hotel is very near the airport, which is important with LA traffic (it's the main reason I left there). We'll definitely stay again!

My 2 year old and I recently stayed at this property for 3 nights and found it to be quite comfortable. Though the decor needs updating, everything in the room was incredibly clean (stayed in plenty of 4/5 star hotels where the cleanliness was questionable). The kitchen was well equipped with some supplies free of charge. Anytime I called down to housekeeping or maintenence for something, they would be at our door in a matter of minutes. Service was top notch. We did not try the free breakfast that they offer every morning. Free USA today M-F. We used the pool once (quiet at mid day)....there is also a basketball court right next to the pool. Plenty of free parking. About a 5 minute drive to restaurants/shops....and about 10 minutes to the beach. Close to LAX but far enough not to hear the planes. There is a rail system right at the edge of the property but it was fairly quiet....all you would basically hear was a swooshing sound.
Overall I was pleased with my stay and would stay here again in the future.

We stayed only one night at this hotel. It seemed to be very fitting for families with a small kitchen. It situated in a remote area which has its advantages in terms of quietness but it is far from e.g. restaurants. What spoiled the good impression was the promised shuttle to the airport did not show up! The shuttle company did not notify the hotel that they wouldn´t make it and the girl in the reception took no notice of the default of our transportation. However, she arranged a taxi so we were at our gate in time, but it was a close call.

I have been traveling with my teens to and from L.A. looking at colleges, so we like to stay at a reasonably priced hotel near the airport with space enough for the three of us and a kitchen. We had previously stayed at the Embassy Suites on Imperial Hwy, but wanted something further away from the runway noise and with less expensive parking. Choosing this Residence Inn proved a mixed experience. Pros: two bedroom/2 ba + sitting area and kitchen, free parking and internet (if it works), quiet location close to 105 freeway, relatively close to LAX. Cons: very dated rooms, old and small bathrooms with cracked tiles, mediocre staff, internet access problems (on all of our laptops; ended sharing the one with broadband card). Teens said they preferred Embassy Suites despite less space. If I am staying three days or fewer and don't need a car, I would go with Embassy Suites; for a longer stay at the right price I would stay at this Residence Inn.

My co-worker and I stayed at this property for two weeks in a two bedroom suite. Room was cleaned very GOOD each and every day. Plenty of towels and wash clothes (thick and in good shape) and ammenities. Two bedrooms, two baths, each with their own tv. Living room with sofa sleeper and easy chair, kitchen with full size refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher and dishes, pots and pans. Did have initial issue with malfunctioning shower; however, within hours maintenance was there to fix it. Great response. Free in-room internet connection and satellite tv featuring a mulititude of channels. Breakfast was wonderful, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, potatoes, breakfast meat of some sort, pancakes, waffle maker, cold cereal, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit to take and eat in addition to a cut up melon selection, 3 types of juices, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, milk, bagels, muffins, english muffins, bread with all the condiments. If you can't find something you like then you should probably not eat breakfast. In you room you also are provide with coffe and a coffee pot should you prefer to make your own. Mon-Thu they offer a manager's reception. Each night they offer a nice tossed salad (buffet type) with toppings and then something like tamales, beef stew, one night they BBQ huge burgers and hot dogs and have potato salad and baked beans, and each night they offer some type of dessert (choc chip cookies, rice krispie treats, brownies). In addition, they have beer, wine and soda. Eating area is large and able to accomodate their guests with no problems and is very well maintained. They offer a shuttle that will take you pretty much anywhere in the area (within a reasonable distance of course). The metro is about 1/2 block from the hotel and will take you to the beach areas or downtown. Property is next to a fire station and appears to be in a very safe area. They also offer a very nice pool and hot tub. We were here on business and couldn't have been more satisified. Excellently managed property. Couldn't find one thing that didn't meet our standards.

We stayed at this hotel for a week and found it to be wonderful.
The cooked buffet breakfast in the morning were a godsend and saved us a fortune. Mondays to Thursdays they do evening meal as well although we never tried it.

Our room was large and very clean, and the pool was lovely, but could have been a tadge warmer, the jacuzzi was too hot!!!
