We booked a single night here so that we could explore Yosemite, and in fairness the location is superb.

However, the night we stayed there was a power outage for most of the evening (a planned one, according to staff). We found staff unhelpful and rude about this matter, and there was no contingency planning. The shop had no batteries for the torches that they sold, no matches, and only expensive scented candles which would afford little light.

The accommodation smelt musty and unclean, and the bathroom was dirty with pubic hairs in the shower.

There are plenty of other places as close to Yosemite, so we would not recommend this due to our poor experience.

Location, location, location. That is what the Cedar Lodge is about. Located about seven miles down river from El Portal, the lodge is about a half hour drive from Yosemite Valley.

The property grounds were well taken care of. Across the road, next to the river thy have a very nice park with sitting and Barbecue areas.
The rooms are spacious and clean but there were no outlets available to charge devices except in the bathroom which had a hairdryer plugged into it. There is a restaurant and bar on site. The bar also serves pub food.

If you or your family need TV this probably is not the place for you. The TV reception was poor with only a hand full of. channels, a couple of local channels, a couple of cable news channels. There was no TNT or ESPN.

Also if you need WiFi, this may not be the place for you. When I was there the WiFi had been out for a couple of days I sensed no urgency to get it fixed. I got the feeling that the WiFi being “out” was common.

Also if you need cellular , you might want to look elsewhere. This property is in a deep river canyon and there simply is no cell service-not a fault of the property but that is just the way it is. Again-Location.

Great location on the river and fairly convenient for Yosemite. The rooms are uninspiring and tired, the restaurant is dire and breakfast was dreadful. "All you can eat" is never encouraging, but would, in the case of this place, better read "All you can bear". Absolutely awful. Expensive too for what was actually edible.

The highlight is the bar and the bar staff, notably Hayley, who was great value and a shining beacon in an otherwise pretty average place.
