Stayed as part of a three week road trip. This would probably be my least favourite hotel. Location is good. Room basic although they do give you toilrities. Staff pleasant enough. Food in the bar was ok.. on site shop expensive. Lovely grounds.

Stayed one night. Very convenient to the west entrance into Yosemite. The rooms are average but clean. I would stay again due to the close proximity. Nice swimming pool for the kids.....................................

the good first, very close to the Park, rooms were clean. Here is the bad, charging like a 5 star, service like a 2 star. the front desk clerk had a horrible attitude and was nasty to us. we had a room on the 2nd floor, but there is no parking there, you have to drag your luggage to the side of the hotel then up a flight of stairs to get to your room. this would not hqve bothered us at all if the clerk had been decent though. The shower head hit my 6 foot tall Husband on his chest!

We stayed here on our honeymoon. We wanted somewhere near to Yosemite (trust me, you will be knackered after a days walking) and this was the best value.

The rooms are clean and suprisingly quiet and comfortable. The diner and bar were great, we spent a whole evening sat at the bar drinking Coors and talking to the other people travelling through - it was actually a highlight of our trip.

There is not much choice in this area, but go here with an open mind and you will enjoy it!

We spent 3 nights here while visiting Yosemite. From the west entrance at El Portal, CA there is only one lodge closer than Cedar Lodge and that is Yosemite View lodge which is just outside of the park entrance and a bit more expensive. Both lodges appear to be owned by the same company as their layouts and amenities mirror each other quite closely.

The rooms were decent, nothing special. I can't figure out why there weren't any clocks in the room. Rooms were clean and a bit dated. We stayed one night in a unit with a kitchenette which we didn't use. The room did have a private deck which was nice. The prices were a bit inflated given that it's high season so you'll pay more than you think it's worth. They were fully booked the whole time.

On-site dining is limited to a 'classy dining room' which seemed overpriced and then a bar and grill place that would be fine if you wanted a burger or something fried. The Yosemite View Lodge had a pizza place and a classy dining room of it's own. We tried the pizza, not great but there are no other options around outside the park unless you want to drive for a bit.

For the location, it was a good option. We spent all day at Yosemite so we didn't use either the indoor or outdoor pool or the arcade but they all looked decent. The small general store in the lobby was great, they had a lot of the basics there, a big plus.

The staff were helpful and courteous. Wifi is not free and it was available only in the lobby which was a small inconvenience. They were however testing in-room wifi while we were there so it looks like that will be changing soon.

The Cedar Lodge appears to have been built in the 1970's and is still in good shape for its age. It has definitely been updated since built, but is due for another facelift. The value is very good. We got a 2-room suite with full kitchen, two queen beds, a sofa sleeper AND a queen-size murphy bed for just about $200. This place is as close as you can get to the west entrance to the park, which saves on driving. Because of the remote location, it felt very safe even though there were many people around, and the surrounding hills were beautiful to gaze at morning, noon, and evening. I don't know how many rooms they have, but they do have several different buildings with rooms, including some single-family cabins nestled in the hill side. The room needed some attention to detail, which is the only down side. (noisy bathroom fan, outdated stove, etc)
The outdoor pool and indoor pool and whirlpool were both clean. They offer a bar/restaurant as well as a sit-down restaurant with reasonable prices. The staff were all very friendly, and there is a mini-store on site that carries most every general item you're likely to need.

If you cannot get a hotel in Yosemite Valley, Cedar Lodge is an alternative, but you should be aware that you have to drive 40 miles each day in your car, or using the bus. You will, depending on traffic, spend 1-2 hours, that could have been spent in the park.
The hotel was ok, but compared to the price, you will not get much value for your money. The following is missing, compared to other hotels in the same category: Wi-Fi and breakfast. Also you have to pay one night in advance (money drawn on your credit card at booking)
The hotel is placed in the middle of nowhere, without even cell phone coverage, so you are totally dependent of the hotel offerings - This is fully utilized by the hotel to get as much as possible from their customers.
A positive thing is good facilities for children.
To avoid the extra payments, drive to El-Portal, where the little supermarket has all you need to make your own meals. The hotel has outdoor table facilities with beautiful view of the mountains. El Portal can even provide you Wi-Fi access.
