Normal 2 star hotel but Yosemite price. We had to decide whether to pay $225 here or drive 2.5 hours back to Merced and save $150. After spending a day in the park I'm glad we chose this option, would do it again. Hotel is not right next to park, it's about 30 minute drive.
There's no wifi in rooms, only in the lobby and costs $9 a day. Breakfast is also not included but the restaurant serves breakfast for about $10. Reasonable price, it was a pretty good breakfast.
There's a restaurant and a grill/bar. Veggie burgers in the grill were really good! Other facilities include indoor and outdoor pools which we didn't use, but we did use the river beach across the road, that was very nice.
Gift shop sells souvenirs as well as snacks and beverages.
Staff was nice in the hotel and in the grill.

We found out 2 weeks before leaving for our Yosemite vacation that the place we were staying was no longer an option. Without a lot of choices and not wanting to spend $400.00 a night we settled on Cedar Lodge for the price and availability. We were nervous but pleasantly surprised when we showed up!!! This hotel is VERY close to the park entrance, the staff was SUPER nice and our room was big and clean which was greatly appreciated for a family of 4! The kids also loved the pool since the weather was so hot and we loved the ease of picking up margaritas from the bar right next to the pool! I would definitely stay here again!!!

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in June while visiting Yosemite Park. From the outside the hotel is well maintained and within easy access to the park but once you open your door to your room it's like stepping back to the 80's, and its a pity.

The plus points: great size room with separate living area from bedroom, kitchenette with huge fridge freezer. Clean.

The negatives: extremely outdated decor, old beds, bedding, linens etc. kitchen very outdated with an eclectic mix of cutlery and crockery etc. Noisy air con, dark and depressing decor. You need to be a hobbit to shower comfortably or stoop very low to wash hair.

I appreciate other comments saying you're there really to enjoy the gob smacking splendour of the park but I'm reviewing the hotel and it lets its customers down. When paying 2013 rates, you should expect 2013 standards. After walking and hiking in the park I wasn't looking forward to coming back to the room as it was so grim, and I was disappointed that I was made feel that way. Another negative was the limited and "pay for" wifi access. In this day and age wifi access should be as standard as having soap in your room.

The complex has indoor and outdoor pools, bar grill and restaurant, games room, BBQ facilities and has a nice atmosphere, but with a complete refurbishment, Cedar Lodge could go from an ok facility to an AMAZING facility, and a laundry room on site would be good too.

Has potential to be sooooo much better!!

Cedar lodge is an ok hotel, we found the facilities all acceptable, the restaurants were good, and the air con fine. It's main claim to fame is that it's a very easy access to Yosemite, and means you don't have to spend the crazy money being asked to stay in Yosemite itself. Don't expect glamour, but as a base for sightseeing in Yosemite, it's fine.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back row, away from the highway, they're quieter

We stayed here as part of our trip touring round California. We weren't expecting a lot after reading the reviews and were aware that we were going to a 2* motel and paying a premium for the privilege of being so close to Yosemite so we were under no illusions on what to expect. Check in was quick and easy and first impressions were better than expected. Our room was huge with 2 comfy queen beds, a massive fridge and kitchenette which we weren't expecting, yes, it is a little rough around the edges, but more than adequate for the time you spend in it. We ate in the diner one night which was okay-ish, but decided not to eat in there the other 2 nights. We bought some pasta in Yosemite village and made use of the kitchen the 2nd night. Our third night we ate in the restaurant for the lodge closer to the park right by the river which was beautiful. The drive to Yosemite each day was beautiful, so don't let the fact that this isn't in the park itself put you off!

Great location for visiting Yosemite. The prices are high because of this. The room was clean and comfortable, we did not use any of the other facilities. We found the receptionists attitude disappointing. As accommodation this close to the park is hard to find they do not have to try very hard.

If visiting again I would stay at the Yosemite Bug. Family stayed there and it sounded so much nicer.

There are no good choices for staying near Yosemite Valley. Prices are outrageous because rooms are limited and demand is high. So, you can stay at extremely expensive places like the Ahwahnee, or in old run down places like this one, still pay too much.
