“Location ain't enough”

Please read "Stephen J's" and "evilempire's" reviews and consider them lucky. We experienced the same rude check-in at the understaffed front desk. Every surface in our room was dusty, the floor unvacuumed and the liquid hand soap dispenser in the bathroom was black with grimey finger prints. Truly crappy towels and bedding. Very glad I had slippers with me as I wouldn't dare put my bare feet on the carpet.
The second day we were there we met a couple who had seen a mouse in their room but were fortunate enough to talk with a manager the following morning who moved them to one of the renovated rooms (which we requested at time of reservation but were denied upon arrival) The rates were ridiculous for anything other than the location. Next time we are trying Tenaya Lodge and will deal with driving into the park.

We stayed here for 1 night while at Yosemite. The lodge is located about 1/2 mile outside of the gate of the park. This is really a motel, not a hotel. Most rooms back up to the river (nice views). The rooms are large with a kitchenette, jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The other reviewers are correct regarding the dated decor-the entire property needs updating badly! We felt like we were back in the 1970's, complete with Dial soap and Breck shampoo in the bathroom. The lodge does not have internet service (there is extended service for Sprint and Verizon customers-you may be charged for roaming). They also provide a guest laundry, which came in handy ($2 in quarters are needed for a wash/dry-you can get the quarters at the front desk). The lobby has a small grocery store with essentials. There is also a smaller general store about a mile down the road. The grocery store inside the park at Yosemite Village is much larger than both of these.

If you come to the area and can't get a reservation inside the park, we would recommend this lodge. Hopefully, they update the decor soon!

For proximity to Yosemite and value for your $$, this is the place. Staff was very helpful when we'd already moved on and realized we'd left some clothing in a wardrobe. Items were found, we were notified and arrangements were made to send the items to us. Would definitely recommend to others.

First of all this hotel is in a great spot. The room was OK, large enough but a bit dated. The service was a bit hit-and-miss and had an element of "Fawlty Towers" about it from time to time. For example even thought there were 4 of us in the family they only gave us 2 towels and no bathmat (I heard others complaining when we checked in for the same reason). So we left a note saying we needed towels for 4 and they initially left us none (fixed up later). The restaurant was OK although the food was pretty average (not many options), the pizzas from the place next door are good however.

Having read the other reviews, I had to check and yes I was!!!
We arrived at 11am and the room was available to move straight into, what a great room .
Overlooking the river from our rear balcony in brilliant sunshine what more could you ask ? Maybe a gas coal effect fire ! A double side by side jacuzzi bath ! Double shower! Clean fresh smelling room ! Well our room had all this ,room 205
You couldn't stay nearer the park without being in there
For those of you on a first visit to Yosemite you have to drive into the park to walk into the park cost 20 dollars 5 day pass and well worth it

We were a little disappointed with his one. Extremely expensive for what it is given the time of year. They obviously rely on a captive audience. The room was large which was a plus, and it was also clean, however when I requested and additional 2 towels - there was 4 people in our room and only 2 bath towels supplied, the towels we received were old, faded and shaggy. Not sure if I would stay there again.

For the price charged, our room should have been much better. Tired carpet, tired linens and towels. Bathroom very dated. We arrived about 2 hrs before check-in time, and they would not store our luggage, said that they had no room. Temp was 100 deg that day. We felt that they could have if they wished. The two people behind registration desk were surly and impolite, even when we checked in at 9 pm after a full day at the park. There is a lot of miscommunication between welcome staff and what the hotel has. We were only impressed with the location, and feel that the service was the worst we had in our 12 hotel stays on our trip.
