“Clean, Basic Accomodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

Family of five stayed two nights here & accomodation was basic, clean & spacious. The hotel is a little dated but for what you need it does the job. The staff were friendly & helpful & the location is fantastic with pretty views all around you & not far from the park at all. We did not eat at the restaurant & cooked inside the unit which has limited cooking equipment, no chopping board so had to improvise. My only problem I encountered was that there was no doctor in the area, my son was extremely ill & running high fever & I was told that there was no medical facilities in the area & that the nearest hospital was an hour away. I found it odd that such a world famous area had no doctor, being it was also a weekend. I found this disturbing. Felt a little bit like I was in the"Shining". But overall, comfortable lodgings in a real pretty area.

The price was reasonable for the area. The room was clean and spacious. There is plenty of parking.

We used our Living social deal to stay here. The hotel was marvelous with a large king spa room overlooking the rushing Merced river. As other reviewers have stated the proximity to Yosemite is a big plus. Our room was very quiet (to other guest noises) and the sound of the river could be shut out by closing the slider. But the restaurant food was substandard and way over-priced. My husband had "chicken dijon" which tasted like it had been re-heated then had karo syrup poured on it. For $22 that was a rip-off. We had a free appetizer coupon from the Living social deal so tried the spinach artichoke dip. We couldn't taste any artichoke at all. Tasted like creamed spinach. The next night we decided to try one more time as my husband saw that the hamburgers looked large, but they were very dry and tasteless. The wait staff was very prompt, almost too prompt!- taking your plate away almost the minute you put your fork down! So my tip is to either bring your own food or buy the TV dinners in the hotel gift shop. But like stated in other reviews there is no where else close by to eat... Maybe someone should put up a taco truck~ Now that would get TONS of customers!!

We bought the Living Social deal for this lodge...thank goodness! The location is perfect, just outside the entrance of the park. The room was wonderful. We were on the ground floor with a small balcony 10 yards from the Merced River. Beautiful big room equipped with microwave, fridge, dishes, electric fireplace, spa tub for 2. My only complaint were the really thin towels --a pet peeve of mine. They were large but thin.
We had 2 breakfasts and a dinner at the restaurant on site. Everything was fabulous. The breakfast especially was a nicely presented and varied spread. There are multiple pools and spas at this large site, bit we didn't take advantage of them. After we left we went to another lodge but I wish we'd stayed at Yosemite View. I really hope they run another special and we'll go back!

A wonderful suprise! We had a room with a balcony right on the river. We really enjoyed using it - ate dinner on the balcony to enjoy the view and left the door open to listen to the rushing river. The room was large and had a whirlpool soaking tub in the bathroom. The room included a small kitchenette (stove, refrig, microwave, toaster, coffee maker) which was very useful. The beds were average. The hotel is dog friendly and many guests brought their pooches along. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The best thing was the proximity to Yosemite...only a couple of minutes away. We found this hotel easy and convenient.

The hotel restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. The prices were reasonable considering the limited choices around a National Park. We tried a pizza which I thought was good, but my husband was not impressed. We limited our eating out and brought food that could be whipped up in the hotel room (french bread, cheese, soup) The restuarant has a full bar which can be a treat when waiting for the pizza!

We enjoyed our stay and plan on returning next year with family.

Room Tip: They don't reserve specific rooms so get there and hope for a room on the river.

We found the Yosemite View Lodge very comfortable. The rooms are good sized and clean, the bathrooms are huge (towels aren't too soft though but the hot water is HOT), and the rooms stayed warm without having to keep the heat on. We stayed on the first level and there was no issue with noise or safety.... glad we didn't have to carry our luggage up the stairs. While we didn't utilize it, the kitchenette could be a great convenience.

The location is the best outside the park, no question. Thanks to Groupon, this was our second stay here. We especially enjoy the room on the river and having wine and cheese on the patio. Unlike a previous review, our jacuzzi tub was in the bathroom, so you should be able to request that room type. The front desk staff needs some work on personality but check in and out was swift. The restaurant food was average but the service there was excellent. Salad bar was extremely limited. Breakfast was a nice surprise. Go for the location and ambiance, not the food. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Request river view which most rooms have.
