I booked this hotel for myself and 7 Department members for a one day workshop we attended, based on other visits I have made to Quality Inns. I have to say this property is quite dated and in need of some upgrades. The bed was very comfortable; my TV remote did not work. we replaced the batteries but still nothing. Old Sony box TV's.

At the meeting the next day the consensus was "We will never let Waterton pick the hotel again". 'nuf said.

Room Tip: Make sure yo get the back side away from the traffic.

We read many bad reviews after our Hotwire purchase so we were prepared for the worst. Yes, the hotel is a bit run down and in need of remodeling but our room was clean and the bed was VERY comfy. The WiFi worked just fine but one of the lights didn't work-not a problem. The TV was old and only had 10 channels(and 2 of them were Spanish) - again not a problem because it kept up us out and about maximizing our time in SD. The staff was helpful to us when we had a question or request. We didn't use the free breakfast. The A/C worked great. The hotel itself was full but quiet (We were there for Comic-Con). The pool and pool area was clean and well maintained. The parking was a bit hectic as they were construction workers re-doing the roof. This meant some of the parking spots were being used up by equipment so if you showed up late you parked at the far end of the lot...of course this is the case of any hotel. In short...we were pleasantly surprised and very happy with our stay.
As a bonus we found an AWESOME Mexican Restaurant nearby that was the BOMB.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side get the trolley and the rooms on the south get the freeway...we were on the north and barely noticed the trolley with the A/C on. It always helps to tip your front desk clerk when checking in. ;)

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - its very run down, room was clean, though the bedside lights didn`t work, the so called free wifi didn`t work, breakfast was get there first or miss it as they certainly didn`t replenish the food, carpets on the stairs were very warn and dangerous, can`t say the staff were that helpful, I certainly would not stay in this place again - it was horrendous!!!!!!

Room Tip: don`t bother

In the few nights we were there, the toilet backed up twice. On arrival, there was no shower curtain. Although being told that the Inn had recently been renovated, we found that there was not significant evidence of it.
The bathroom door had been damaged; the bathtub had porcelain cracks; there was a failure in the caulking so that water probably got behind the shower wall.
The bed was very comfortable, although too soft for me. On leaving, we pulled back the comforter and found it was blood stained, but don't know whether it did not come out in cleaning.
Our room was small but still accommodating to our needs.
The outside carpeting was worn and torn in many places and we could see that even with trying, it was a losing battle.
The complementary breakfast was more extensive than many places we've stayed, but when an item supply was exhausted, it was not renewed, such as the yogurt and some cereals.
It appeared to us that the place was run "on the cheap". The cost was moderate but we'd pay more for a better stay.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

In this area for business I stayed at this location for 26 nights. They were remodeling all of their rooms the entire time I was there. However I was on the third floor on the East side and that side was completed. The cable TV was out for the first five days, but I did have local TV stations. Once they got that up and running everything was great for the rest of the stay. The hotel location is only 11 miles from a few of the beaches, the zoo is also close along with PETCO Field and sea world. It is just of Interstate 8, Good restaurants close by and shopping. Their Breakfast was okay not a lot of variety of hot food., Waffles, Eggs, sausage, cereal, and yogurt., bread and pastries.

Room Tip: Please plan on bringing ear plugs, since the hotel (east side is right next to Interstate 8) the west side isn't as bad. Recommend 3rd floor
