We were in town to adopt our newborn baby so our plans were sort of in flux. We were staying at another property near the hospital and were not pleased so we looked up a new hotel on Expedia. Instead of booking with Expedia we decided to take a drive down to see if we liked the area and to inquire as to whether or not they would honor the Expedia rate. The person at the front desk, Colleen, went and asked her supervisor who said that they couldn't give us the $75.75 rate but could give us the room for $80. We let her know our situation since we didn't know exactly how many days we would be in town or when we would actually check in to the Resort. Colleen was a FANTASTIC!! We called her about 5 p.m. when we found out we were going to have to stay in the hospital one night with the baby she said no problem we'll see you tomorrow.

Our room overlooked one of the putting greens. It was large, very comfortable, and very clean!!! It was a perfect place for us to spend a few days to get settled and to get some much needed rest. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful.

We didn't get a chance to do any golfing but the grounds were impecable. There is a small workout room with great equipement. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

Spent five nights in a single for $90/night. Room had two queen beds and very large living and bathroom areas. Part of the bathroom area contained a separate room with a tiled shower and toilet. There is no bathtub in most of the resort's rooms.
Quality and cleanliness of the unit, and the efficiency of the housekeeping staff was first-rate. Every morning a newspaper is delivered to the door.
Golf is available on two full-length 18-hole courses - cost for each, with pullcart, is $32 for resort guests. The executive par-3 course costs $20 with pullcart. The quality of all three course is good but not great. With minor exceptions the courses are flat and have some water. There is a large staff of golf instructors on-site; they especially cater to female golfers. There is a driving range ($5 for small bucket) and putting greens and chipping areas (with bunkers) scattered around the resort.
Swimming is possible in two pools - neither very large but they are warm and clean and can provide some gentle exercise.
Joggers will have to create their own path - Starting near room #145 (and a PEPSI machine) there is a dirt path that runs along the resort's perimeter fence. It will take you near the driving range where you can circle back (on asphalt paths) to your starting point. Each run of this circuit should be about a mile.
The restaurant (Grill room) is clean and the staff friendly - the food is good and the portions are large. One can sit outside in good weather.
Finally, the casino is about five miles away. It is large and at least as good as most Indian casinos in California. Parking is somewhat distant but continuously circling mini-buses will take you to/from the casino entrance. Shuttle from Sycuan resort is available during the day (scheduled at night and on-call during the morning/afternoon).
Overall, my visit went well and I'll return here in the future.

Singing Hills is now known as Sycuan Resort. We stayed for a week Sept. 7 - 14th. Were in town for a wedding. This resort is fairly old, although it looks like they put some money into it. The rooms overlook the beautiful golf courses. We had two rooms - a regular with 2 queens for the kids and a suite for us. The rooms are large, we really didn't need the suite which had a separate bedroom. You do get a refrigerator and coffee maker - no microwave or in room safe. We found the rooms to be very clean and nicely appointed. The resort is only about a 15/20 minute drive from the airport. We did a ton of sightseeing and didn't find the driving difficult. There is a coffee shop type restaurant on the grounds - food was excellent and well priced. You can either drive or take the shuttle to the casino - we were not impressed with the casino but usually go to Vegas if we want to gamble so we're spoiled. The resort staff were very helpful. All in all, we would not hesitate to return or to recommend Sycuan Resort. It was a good trip. Julie

When we stayed at the Sycuan resort in El Cajon (20 min. from Sea World) we thought we were in for a treat. I guess you hear resort and expect just that. We only stayed one night and we weren't upset about leaving. The room was a wonderful size... oversized compared to most places you stay. The grounds were nice ( what we got to see of it). We didn't visit the casino that was part of the resort so we are not sure what that was like. The staff were pleasant and very helpful! The mattresses were not quality mattresses. I actually kept sliding towards my husband all night because of how much of a slope it had. I guess if you want to gamble and spend the least amount of time resting then this is probably the place for you. If you think.... a resort that's affordable... it's better to stay at a more popular hotel for that.

I have been working in upscale resorts my whole life including one that has 5 stars on everywebsite. So please trust my opinion on this so called resort.

I changed my trip after the first day because of 5 bugs i killed, moldy smell in room. Dirty shower with no water pressure. Dirty sheets.

The place looks and feels like a campground and i can't believe it got 3 and a half stars.

Yes, i'm sure the golf course is pretty and i went to the casino and it's pretty good. But, i was considering sleeping in my car the first night.

Thank God the company i booked through had great customer service and moved me otherwise i would have packed my bags and came home.

Management response:Responded May 6, 2006

It's unfortunate to see such comments about our resort posted on this site since they are so unlike the complimentary comments typically offered by our guests.

A recent review of our records indicates that no such complaints have been lodged with our office, but we'd be happy to investigate this matter in full if this guest would like to contact us. We hope to hear from him/her.

Thank you,
Sycuan Management and Staff
