I have an annual trip to Downieville and this is my favorite place to stay. Mike, Theresa and the whole family treat you like family. The accommodations are very much in line with staying at your grandmothers or great aunts house. They have been hard at work on upgrading the property while still keeping the small country hotel feels. They also go above and beyond with customer service.
We took our two grandkids, ages 9 and 6, to spend a day playing in the beautiful Yuba river then checked in to the Downieville River Inn where they continued to frolic in the pool while we used one of several adjacent barbecues to prepare dinner. At check in, Theresa made us feel very welcome and insured we had everything we needed. Although the buildings are not new, our room was spotless and very comfortable. Thanks to the Downieville River Inn folks for helping us make memories with our grandkids.
This is not plush by any means, but clean and comfortable and has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Plus surprisingly good WiFi (was able to watch Netflix with no issues!). The staff was especially courteous and helpful, super friendly and attentive to our every need. Will definitely be back when we need a quick break from our routine (we're just about an hour down the road so easy and quick to stay for a night or two)
Stayed 2 nights in quaint little cabin. Had everything we needed. Staff was very courteous and friendly. Clean little place, linens smelled nice, and Laura was more than happy to accommodate us when we wanted a night under the stars by a warm fire. Could use a little remodeling, but still very charming. Will return next year 4 sure

Very old and in need of updating for the price. One of the loudest places I have ever stayed. Construction workers screaming outside until nearly midnight and diesel trucks running for over an hour starting at seven am with all sorts of banging around. Ancient single pane windows so you hear EVERY LITTLE NOISE. Not the relaxing stay I was hoping for.

I am so sorry to hear that you had such an experience like that. Downieville River Inn is really a relaxing place to be. Unfortunately, Highway 49 is getting paved and there is more noise then ever before.
You should have came to me and I could have moved you to another room.
I am always willing to make sure my guest's are happy and comfortable.
