If you like authentic Mexican food served in good quantity and prepared by wonderful people, Graciela is a great cook and has an infectious laugh. I have enjoyed everything I've eaten there, but especially enjoy the carne asada tortas. For breakfast, machaca e huevos. Great beans and rice and some hot salsa that will incinerate your cockels. I make it a point to eat there often when I'm in Dorris. Just so you'll know, this isn't a fancy joint. It is in the old George Jordan Shell gas station from the '50's. You will have the opportunity to visit with Mexican long haul truck drivers because the food is authentic, inexpensive and generous, and there's room around the restaurant for lots of 18 wheelers.

If you find yourself traveling on Hwy 97 between Klamath Falls, OR and Weed, CA don't miss some of the best Mexican food anywhere. The proprietress makes everything from scratch. Homemade tortillas compliment each dish. You can get a great taco or sope topped with your choice of meat for $2. An order of machaca with eggs makes a great breakfast for two. The chile verde is the best I have ever tasted and the combination plate is plenty for two. Sopapillas with eggs makes another great breakfast. Each dish is individually prepared so if it is busy you may have to wait a little but it is totally worth the wait. Don't miss the cinnamon spiked coffee. It is a perfect counterpoint to the spicy salsas and sauces. The restaurant is a converted gas station and the atmosphere is an eclectic mix of bright blue paint, hand painted giant fans from Thailand and diner furniture. In short an authentic Mexican joint. You will be elbow to elbow with locals, truckers and the occasional tourist and all are greeted with a heartfelt welcome.
