“An Oasis of Calm in the Desert Hills”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

If you're looking for a peaceful, all-natural, relaxing experience, this natural spa is worth the trip. There are a few small backroads that lead to the resort itself, but signs marking a famous landmark (Cabot's Museum) helped us arrive. We arrived a little early and greeted by a down-to-earth manager who was willing to let us check in. We were greeted with fresh local mineral spring water blended with citrus and cucumber that spoiled all other drinking water for us. The retro-modern rooms, influenced by the building's history combined with a local architect's flare for color, gave the rooms new, but familiar feel to them.

There are two pools (one hot and another standard swimming temperature) which allow you to cycle your body's heat. I'm not medical doctor and cannot attest to the health benefits, however this cycling feels great. The resort is quite small with 12 rooms, but this leads to a certain intimacy which further adds to the overall relaxing atmosphere of the resort.

Breakfast consists of simple, yet high quality staples such as blueberry bagels, wheat toasts, hard boiled eggs, and a wide variety of fresh fruits.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing escape from the busy technology-driven American worklife.

Room Tip: All the rooms are basically the same. Just remember this resort is not equipped with TVs or the like...

Only hours away from Los Angeles, Miracle Manor Retreat is the best way to relax all the way to your core! One dip in that pool and you're set. We absolutely loved the mineral water. The manager Linda was very helpful when we asked for local shopping and dining. The breakfast was so much fun because we met other guests and were able to socialize with them. I would come back here over and over again. It was one of the most relaxing trips ever. I wish I could carry that pool home with me!!

I feel very ambivalent about my experience at Miracle Manor. The hot springs pools were amazing and so relaxing. The bigger sized pool was was body temperature and it was connected to a smaller hot-tub sized pool that was very hot but felt soooo good on the muscles. The pool area was open 24-7 and swimming at night felt so peaceful. Hanging out around the pool, the retro architecture of the motel was very pleasing to look at and the place is small enough that I could fantasize that we were the only ones there and it was our own private retreat. But the reality was that the place was very small and filled up to capacity so we had very little privacy, could hear people in the other rooms, and were forced to make awkward conversation with the couple other people there.
Our room was so spare it was hard to believe that they charge the prices that they do. I understand maintaining the whole minimalist vibe, but giving us one towel each for our whole stay? Really? No maid service whatsoever? Not allowed to set the AC below 80 in the middle of the desert with 2 slots for windows? Ridiculous.
The only woman on staff was this spaced out new age hippie lady who was very nice and sweet but altogether pretty unhelpful. The breakfast in the morning was pretty healthy and delicious, but you were required to sit at a communal table and chat with the other guests while you ate it.
I guess the owners get away with running the place the way that they do because most of the other guests seemed to be acquaintances of the owners. It's their choice how they run the place, but I feel like it should be classified as a "spiritual retreat" and not a bed and breakfast.

I don't know what to say, am shocked by the feedback on these pages. We booked a weekend based on these reviews and were looking forward to a serene and peaceful getaway. Understanding that the bunker-like, mid-century hotel and room/facilities are minimalist and sparse? Not a problem, got it. But here's the deal. Slapping new orange and green signage and paint on a dilapidated building doesn't make it a sanctuary. Also, the air conditioning cannot be turned below 80 or the unit will freeze. In the desert. In the summer when it was over 110 degrees. Really?!?! Unbearable and impossible to sleep or relax. Left in misery at 7:00 a.m. The pool and hot tub were nice and swimming at night the only saving grace. The managers were very nice, but we have never had such a disappointing or unacceptable travel experience.

We just returned from a night at miracle manor and had the most amazing experience. We were greeted by Linda and given some refreshing fruit infused ice waters. Our room was perfect, right near the pools and had a kitchenette. I have never experiences such peace and stillness. Takes a while to get used to the lack of noise, but once it sets in it's a miraculous calmness that overtakes you. We spent all day and night soaking in the mineral pools which were the perfect temperatures. We watched the sun set in robes, on lounge chairs on the sun deck. We felt like we had the place to ourselves even though there were other couples there.
It is totally private and romantic. The clean desert air soothes your soul and you feel a million miles away from work and stress. The organic bedding was crisp and soft at the same time.
I got a facial from Rhonda and it was one of the best experiences ever! I HIGHLY recommend getting a treatment by her if you stay. We absolutely loved the whole experience and can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: We loved room one with kitchenette and closest to the pool!

My husband and I recently stayed here as a surprise weekend getaway for his birthday. It was EXACTLY what we were looking for. There are only maybe 6 rooms on the property, and no tvs or music, everything is very quiet and peaceful. We took a hike one day in Joshua Tree National Park and then had massages at the hotel before getting in the hot springs back at the Manor. The treatments were awesome and then hanging out in the pools afterwards was exactly what we needed. The breakfast they include in the morning is nice, with boiled eggs, cereals and pastries. We loved the quietness of the weekend and definitely plan on returning again soon.

I never would have believed how quickly stress could disapate. We arrived after dark and were shown to our room, one of six surrounding a mineral hot spring pool. We took a dip under the stars and relished the utter silence. Even the minimalist rooms seemed relaxing - no clutter, no dirt, no bugs. I slept like a rock. Everything was clean and well maintained. No cost cutting on the breakfast items either; organic milk and bran- name cereals with fresh fruit and wonderful coffee. Also this place was not the least bit pretentious. We will go back!

Room Tip: With only six to choose from, you don't have to worry- they're all good.
