my partner and i stayed for two amazing days at this little gem. practically had it all to ourselves! the room was exactly what we wanted....big bed, nice sheets, no distractions, and lots of privacy. we booked a room with a kitchen which was great because they also have a fabulous barbeque area where we had dinner under that amazing desert sky. The hot springs were the highlight! daily breakfast was beautiful with all the things one could want or need....gourmet coffee, fruits, yogurt, granola, beautiful breads, cheeses, and a different fresh egg dish each day, included in the rate! the manager was extremely sweet and accomodating. the only thing i think needs a little improvement are the showers.....a bit small.

Hope Springs is a magical place. I got engaged here...stayed here when I got married...have been going since the second month they opened and have brought many friends. The original design of the rooms forces one into a zen experience. Minimalist and modern serene and soothing. When I need to get away from it all this is where I go. Get a kitchen if you can-there aren't many great restaurants in the area.

I used to love this place but things have changed. The bathrooms are just gross and need some renovations but that is really not so important. The beds are still great, the pools are still great but there is less attention to detail overall.. the place just looks rundown. Still unsure? Ok here goes.. when I took a shower at 1am after swimming there were four huge roaches in our bathroom, In the shower, on the walls and around the toilet. We were completely freaked out that they would also be in our room by the bed as it is a low bed but thankfully they seemed enamored with the bathroom. Four! And in the morning there were two more. Now, the manager was really nice and offered us a room we could keep until we left as we were leaving that day and he also offered to give us the room free of charge for another night.. an offer we couldn't take up. I believe he should have not charged us for the night we had spent in a roach infested room. We left them there for them to see so there was no dispute that there were indeed several roaches in the bathroom and I took pictures as well.. but he didn't do that. Nevertheless he was as nice as could be and the woman that worked there said they would be exterminating that weekend. But it's gross. And no place should wait until roaches or mice become a problem to spend the money on taking care of your property. I guess all good things must come to an end and that sadly applies to my relationship with Hope Springs. Buy hey the upside is they probably are taking care of the problem and so you hopefully will stay in roach free rooms. So our horrible experience may ensure your wonderful one. Let's hope.

We spent three weeks at the Motel in March-April 2011, and it was a great experience.

On our first day, we were warmly welcomed by Chloe, the former manager. She left during our stay and was replaced by Cynthia, a great person and an amazing host. She grew up in the area and knows everything there is to know about the places and the people. We also met Evica, who tends to the rooms and to the motel's amazing cacti collection. We just had a glimpse of Andre, the new assistant manager, who seemed very nice.

We enjoyed the mineral pools, although we found it hard to enter the hottest one during the day! However, it is perfect on windy days or cold nights. The hot water is especially enjoyable after a long day of hiking. The breakfast is excellent, with a lot of different fresh fruits and good-tasting products (granola, yogurt).

The decoration of the rooms, harking back to mid-century modernism, creates a very relaxing mood, in tune with the surroundings.

We spent most of our time hiking Joshua Tree National Park and the San Jacinto Mountains, which both are just about an hour-long drive away.

We will definitely be back.

I would never describe this place as a hotel or motel in the traditional sense. For my money, Hope Springs is a funky and sylish oasis with a sense of history. It exists for a particular reason - put your feet up and chill out! Abandon the TV, the internet and let yourself soak in the hot pools. We found the staff to be friendly (even the ones that don't appear so at first) and will try and help you if required. But really the key thing here is to bring some books, switch off, soak up the minerals and relax. Only venture outside when necessary (the local area is not much to write home about; head to Palm Springs for eating and entertainment). Does that sound like your kind of place? Be sure you understand what you are letting yourself in for - it might not be for you (concrete floors; no storage in the rooms, a communal feel, and small showers). And if these things put you off it's time to abandon hope and move on.

Just a short drive from Los Angeles! A wonderful place of mid century modern architecture with a charming atmosphere and helpful staff. You do not need a lot of activities here, because chilling in the pool of the hot springs relaxes you through and through.... The hotel is set around a beautiful desert garden with the hot springs.
We stayed a couple of days here and enjoyed it very much. Staff was very helpful and the breakfast with fresh fruit was very tasty. Conveniently close to Yosemite National Park - so if you feel like visiting and climbing...

We stayed there opnly one night, unfortunately. Had we know about this hotel before planning the trip we would have arranged to stay there longer. Lucas provided an extremely uncomplicated, warm and friendly welcome. The rooms are very zen, no TV, no phone, simple decoration, and are set around three natural hot spring pools at three different temperatures - wonderful to soak in after a day of traveling.
The hotel is a great base to visit the Joshua Tree National Park.
