We called to make a reservation for Sunday brunch, but were told that they do not make reservations for it; we arrived at noon on Sunday and were offered immediate seating at a table inside or a 35-minute wait for one on the covered porch. They offered to show us the inside table, and when we saw that all tables, whether inside or outside, have a good view of the beach and ocean, we chose the inside table. Since the wall between the inside and outside areas is comprised of raised overhead doors, the ocean breeze is felt and the beach sounds are heard, so the difference is insignificant. We enjoyed the delicious special-brew coffee while waiting for our meals to arrive. I had the Dungeness Crab Omelette, and my husband had the Coconut-Macadamia French Toast -- both outstanding, with unique flavors and textures. Our only complaint was that since we were traveling we could not bring home a doggy bag with the leftovers of the generous portions!

This restaurant is right on the beach with all the sights, sounds and smells. We arrived in time for Happy Hour and they had lots of specials, we had Ceviche which was excellent, along with a couple rounds of drinks. Server was great and offered other suggestions but we decided not to fill up before an early dinner. We did not have reservations, but if you are coming in later closer to sunset they are recommended any day of the week, in fact we wish we had come later because it was very sunny on the patio and HOT, we had to change tables but it was hard to get out of the sun.

Food was OK, I had salmon, which was served with mashed and spinach, not sure why the spinach is served on top on the mashed between the salmon but it made the potato mushy. Server seemed to be to trying rush us which was not appreciated. Assortment of bread was served with dinner, very nice. Wife tried tortellini with beech mushrooms which she liked but had to add a lot of salt to for flavor.

We went to the neighboring restaurant, Jake's and consider it a better value and experience but it is more a personal preference.

When a friend living in the area invited us to join her at the Poseidon Restaurant we knew we were in for a treat and most certainly were not let down. 20 feet from the front door is the lifeguard station for the beach. If you are lucky you might have your choice of dining out on the covered porch. Even though it was 78 degrees outside we found the sea breeze too cool for our comfort level and asked to be seated just inside where full windows gave you the fantastic view but you could relax a little more. The ambiance of the space is just beautiful. I imagined how many engagements must have happened over the years. Oh yes, the food. The presentation of each dish was exceptional and the food gourmet and cooked to perfection. Prices reflected the fine dining but were absolutely affordable. Our server made extra points with me when he asked "What is the name of that movie star you are always mistaken for?" He probably says that to all the ladies but I loved it!

What a great location. I felt like I was literally in the sand. Enjoyed the view of the beach/ocean. Food and service were both great. Portions were generous.

Stopped for drinks and appetizers with friends from San Diego. They wanted me to get a flavor of a great view in a fun place. They succeeded. Service was very good, drinks well done and had a nice variety of choices for a light relaxed time with friends. The view is just great and I can see returning when I am in the area.
