Description: Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

We were recommended to this restaurant by the concierge of our hotel - the Park Hyatt Aviara. The restaurant was able to handle our reservation for 11 people - 5 of which were children. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was good - although the kids menu could use a bit more variety. The wine list was good and priced fairly. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the Hula pie dessert the most!

The view overlooking the beach and the Pacific Ocean was amazing. The menu had an excellent selection from the land or the sea. The food was amazing. It was very busy but that is just a statement of how wonderful everything is. The food the service. It was all good.

We are in the San Diego area for a short time and are trying all the restaurants we can while here. Jake's was recommended and did not disappoint. We've now been there twice we love it so much. We've tried their steak, lobster, crab cakes, and various desserts and everything has been terrific. Simply the best we've found for a dinner (especially sunset) so far. This restaurant is on par with Mama's in Maui and Uchi in Austin which are our favorites in the world. Go there chop, chop! What are you waiting for?

Given its perfect location on the beach in beautiful Del Mar, you would think that Jake's would always be full of tourists, but locals are smart enough to enjoy a good view and food. Jake's has an amazing view of the ocean and if you hit dinner right, a great view of the sunset. Their brunch on the weekends is delicious, and what a great place to meet your girlfriends on a Sunday. Most recently, I had a great lunch with good wine and perfect weather. If you're planning a romantic date, you can walk on the beach before or after and laugh at some of the dogs from the nearby dog beach.

Logistics: Just pay for valet parking, it will end up being cheaper or the same as the meters and you don't have to worry about getting a ticket. If you want to go for dinner, make reservations! If you want to go for lunch, get there about 10-15 minutes before they open. If you don't all the seaside seats will already be taken.
