Description: Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

Accommodated our party of 10, great service, the food was delicious, and the birthday sisters (9 years apart) enjoyed an exceptional dinner experience. I wanted a Caesar salad that wasn't on the menu, and the waitress said the greens had a Caesar dressing and she recommended it, and it was one of the best Caesar's I've had (and I ALWAYS try a new Caesar). The Jambalaya type dish I had a sauce that was too "rich" (sweet), but everyone else loved their food. The service was excellent.

We had high hopes - #1 rated in Del Mar we left the Grand Del Mar for dinner at Jakes.

6:30 reservations and the place was Hopping! The parking lot was stacked 3 wide from restaurant entrance to the street. Inside you had to practically scoot sideways to move. We were seated next to the bus station at an otherwise charming table with a wonderful view of the Pacific (if you ignored the table of four sitting at the window). I'm sure they were nonplussed that we had to stare thru them to look out of the windows.

The service was Excellent. The menu interesting, but the flavors were just OK.

The Sunset Martini was too sweet, the wine list was small but had a good -expensive- selection. We shared the Seafood Tower & Spring Rolls then the Short Ribs & Salmon. Unfortunately none knocked our socks off. However the Creme Brûlée was TERRIFIC and definitely the highlight of the meal.

Loved the bar area, loved the décor, loved the staff - food not up to top rating on this Sunday evening.

Was recently here for 1st time. Great food and the best Bloody Mary ever (even thought they had no celery -wish they did). Bartender and waiter were great. Great atmosphere.

This is a higher end restaurant right on the beach. Very nice setting, great food and exceptional service. Our waiter was Derek who seemed to have found his calling; very professional, cheerful and a pleasure to talk to.
I selected it from TripAdvisor and booked it online; very easy to book. Certainly my restaurant of choice when staying in San Diego / Del Mar.

What to say more very pleasant dining, great beachview especially during sunset.Relaxed atmosphere friendly staff and excellent sea food.
As starter
Layered Seafood Cocktail with shrimp, lobster, avocado, orange chili sauce
Great dish very tasty, only remarks it would improve the seafood flavour when served warmer.
Main Course
Citrus scented sea bass: caramelized onion fingerling potatoes, grilled romaine, pistachio vinaigrette, charred tomatillo creme fraiche.
Again nice tasteful dish well prepared.
Baileys Pot de Crème chocolate hazelnut crust, whipped cream
A lower rate on the dessert, bailey hardly to taste and crème to massive and sweet for my taste

Second visit: During happy hour ordering in the bar before 18:00 with discount makes it a great deal.
Blue crab mandarin salad, avocado foam, charred green onions, sundried tomato puree, snow crab claw. Excellent very tasteful well balanced dish
Main the Steak & Wedge, sirloin, petite iceberg, heirloom tomato, bacon, blue cheese dressing. Good dish steak well prepared.
Great place on the beach in Del Mar not difficult to understand why this place is crowded. Pleasant service great view excellent food . Just drive up and use the valet parking for
