Description: Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

we had our 4th of July dinner at the restaurant. We tried to reserve a table right at the waterfront and we got it ! As always, the food was very good, the waiter nice and professional, the sunset overcast but still impressive. Many people were right on the beach next to the restaurant to watch the fireworks.

Great views, great service, delicious dishes in a casual setting. Jake's reputation is well-deserved. If you're visiting and are looking for a memorable nice casual restaurant, this is the place.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience on a summer Friday for lunch. The view, the service, the food, all truly perfect. Some reviewers commented that portions were small. Not our experience at all, very nice portions. Had the duck sandwich with homemade fries, absolutely delicious. The grilled chicken salad was so yummy and unusual. All this with a wonderful Del Mar beach view. Just doesn't get any better.

The views are nice. Creative valet parking. The restaurant could use some updating, and so could the menu. I would eat here again but I wouldn't be in a big hurry to do it. Pricey for what you get, food wise.

While on vacation, we went to Jake's twice, and both experiences were homeruns, service is excellent, food is excellent, and the overall experience is memorable. The views of the beach are available from all seats. Hostesses were young but well trained and courteous, waiters were great, we had Alex one of the nights and he guided us through with solid recommendations. For appetizers we tried the Chefs Plate- a selection of meets and cheeses served on a slate. We had lamb and tenderloin dishes the first night, seabass and shrimp the second night and all were fantastic

For dessert, we split what they called a Hula Pie, ice cream with choc fudge was fantastic as well. See pic below.

We wish we lived down the street from Jake's, it would be a weekly stop. Bar area was always hopping as well, appears to be a spot for the locals!
