when you return to a place for your yearly vacation trip with anniversary dinner at the same restaurant you kind of expect some letdown. Well I am amazed that for the 5th straight year Sbicca was wonderful. We ate on the patio out front and it was comfortable with the heaters. Food choices and preparation were great. I enjoyed every drop of food and even splurged with the chocolate, banana cream pie. I licked the plate. On to of this the bottles of wine were half off. Cant wait to return to Del Mar to be spoiled again.

Having had very mixed (mostly negative) experiences food wise in the San Diego area, Sbicca is a very welcome departure. My wife and I stopped by several times for lunch recently and each time it was excellent. The Surf and Turf comes with a beautiful piece of steak and several very tasty jumbo shrimp. The fries that accompany the fish sandwich are perfect, but even better is the fish. The cheese sandwich is simply delicious and you won't keel over from the calories, they keep it elegant and just right. Staff is very friendly and helpful, the wine and beer list leave very little to be desired. Highly recommended.

This little gem in Del Mar, just 15 mins from San diego is as good as it gets. Their pork chop is the best I've ever had. Everything is superb. Their Tuesday night half-price wine is a great little secret! Go there, you will not regret it. Get the rooftop seating, it's divine.

We just walked in off the street - quick glance at the menu and thought "yep".
the reataurant has an open air seating bar space at the front and a more formal inside tabled area at the rear.
Previous reviewer spoke of good views - I suppose so - if you are sitting on the out front pavement area and crane your head to the east. Otherwise - it just looks onto the street and there is walls on the other 3 sides. Anyway - on to the food - what we;re here for!
we had 4 starters to share - which were nicely done. truffled avocado salad with goats cheese (didn't notice the truffle) but very fresh and nicely balanced with a sweet dressing. Wedge iceberg salad with bacon and blue cheese dressing - Iceberg is so weak that it was just the medium to eat the blue cheese dressing - which was not heavy handed - very lightly done. shiitake egg rolls - a bit heavy and chewy - shiitake flavour not coming through strongly, and my fav - crabby patties! OK - crab cakes with spinach and corn salad - again with a sweet dressing. This was FAB.
we did not have anything else but mains included various fish dishes (halibut, salmon etc) a garlic chicken breast, a filet mignon, maple roasted pork rib, burgundy roasted beef short rib, a pasta dish etc Desserts looked very standard so we didn't bother - tiramisu, cheesecake, peach crumble, sorbet, etc (I am sure they would have a menu on their website)
Wines were by bottle and glass and we enjoyed a straightforward napa valley SB.
Service was very nice. Fit out was a bit corporate. Salads probably had more calories than imagined, locked into those sweet dressings.

priced appropriately for what they do - not a bargain but not over the top. (price below is for 4 starters)
All up - although it doesn't knock you're socks off would recommend this restaurant for a safe and delicious meal
