Although there was ongoing renovation. The staff did all they could to make our stay pleasant. The bikes were great fun and breakfast was good. I hope they finish their work soon so the hotel can get back to normal
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
Very nice! Good rooms, clean, and very friendly staff. I use this hotel whenever I visit my daughter (professor at UCSD), and she has more than one side of the family visiting. The hotel is currently under renovation (Thanksgiving 2012), but it did not bother us at all. I love both the breakfast, and the reception at this hotel. High quality. Sorry to report that the breakfast will be changing to a cafe with public access, but it may work out fine. I will miss the personal attention. There is a fair amount of morning noise. You can hear the water running from others showers, the garbage trucks have made a crashing sound early in the morning, and of course in Davis the trains are running. They do not seem to run during the night, or I sleep better than usual, because they do not bother me, and I normally do not sleep all that well.
On behalf of the team of the Hallmark Inn, thank you for staying with us during the visit to town this past Thanksgiving. It was nice to hear that the renovation did not cause you any concern as we are trying our best to minimize disruptions. We look forward to the change of our breakfast to being served in our new Cafe 110 as something that will pleasantly surprise our guests. As you may have experienced we are now are offering locally roasted Pedal Pepper Coffee and continue to enhance not only breakfast but lunch/dinner options with locally produced items. We look forward to the opportunity to share a new experience the next time you come to visit Davis. Sincerely- Marisa Schaffer
Davis, CA has a couple of nice hotels. I chose this one for the location and family has stayed here. Rooms was a nice size and clean. Bed was comfy. Breakfast had all the basics and very good coffee. Wifi was a little slow and choppy. Would use this hotel again.
On behalf of the team of the Hallmark Inn, thank you for making your overnight accommodations with us. I agree our location puts you right in the heart of Downtown Davis with all the restaurants and shops within walking or bicycling. Be sure ask about our complimentary bicycles as another way to get around while you are visiting in Davis. Looking forward to a future stay.
Pluses: The double room we had at the front of the hotel was very large. Free parking under the hotel or in back. Easy walk to restaurants and shops, and very close to UC Davis. The pool was small but the deck was spacious with a lovely mural. Reception was efficient and friendly.
Minuses: No sink outside the bathroom, so only one person can get ready at a time. From other reviews, it looks like the construction we saw outside our window in August continues. i wish I had known when I booked. Balconies are not private, some overlook pool or the busy street across from parking garage for movies. The TV is hung on wall with one of few outlets under it. It's too easy to bang your head on the TV. Strangely, the hook on bathroom door was only an inch from the top.
If we are in the area, we'll probably book again if construction is done.
On behalf of the team, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as we truly appreciate your feedback. The construction should be completed in Spring 2013 and we hope you give us the opportunity of a future stay.
We spent two nights here for a recent conference. The service was excellent, the room was large and spotless with comfortable beds, and our stay included complimentary breakfast. Check in/check out was quick and efficient. They also have free use of bikes for guests who want to ride through the bike-friendly campus, which we did to get to the conference location. We highly recommend this hotel.
On behalf of the entire Hallmark Inn, Davis team "Thank you" for taking the time to share your thoughts on our property. We are very proud to hear that everything went as planned and you enjoyed your stay. I am glad you experienced the quickest means of transportation in Davis....the bicycles not only get you to your destination but allow you to appreciate and see the sights of this great community. Thank you again and we look forward to your next visit......

The Hallmark Inn makes an effort to be friendly to UC Davis families. They had a table set up and parent orientation, and seemed decent, so I made a reservation for move-in weekend. The facility is nice. Reminded me a bit of Europe. It was hard to find at night with all the construction going on. The room was large and although it was near a railroad, we barely noticed that. The desk personnel were very cordial. Parking was not good. The night we arrived, there was a small bus parked in a non-space that made it difficult to get by. The following night, the place was packed and it was hard to find a spot. Location is great with lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Also an easy drive to the camps. Wifi is free, but was so slow I couldn't check on freeway traffic before leaving. The breakfast had decent food, but the seating arrangement was strange, as if the breakfast setup was an afterthought. Hopefully the remodeling will address this.
On behalf of the entire Hallmark Inn, Davis team I would like to say "Thank you" for taking the time to share your experience. During the transition of our F Street side to include a grand entrance, retail shops and upgraded food/beverage services we have extended our breakfast seating to the lounge and outside patio area. Once it is all completed seating will be in the new Cafe as well as some outdoor area along the new F Street scape. We are also upgrading our internet and television service to provide quicker speed and more options. Thank you for staying with us while we undergo these changes and we look forward to the opportunity of a future stay.......
