A bit pricey, with friendly (if a little eccentric service). Food is pretty good and the ambiance is nice.

Our server started our evening off on a weird note by making obscure remarks and acting strange overall.

The food was completely overated and not everything we hoped it would be. It was good only it wasn't as exciting as the hype that surrounds this restaurant. The menu prices are definitely too high for the quality of food. This is not a Napa Valley caliber restaurant.

The restaurant seems to exude great ambience from the street view only once you get inside it is noisy/cramped and tacky.

I do not recommend the Mustard Seed.

I just ran across the review by "Boole", and I'm mysttified. We have dined at The Mustard Seed perhaps 100 times over the past 20 years and have always found the food, service, and ambience delightful. Chef Paul, who is usually back in the kitchen, is a gifted cook-- creative, and with a good sense of what works. His level of cooking is right up there with Napa Valley cooks. The co-owner, Robyn is usually out front and is invariably friendly and helpful. The way staff are first class-- well trained and efficient. The well shaded garden is great for lunches, including working lunches where talk is important. The dining room is not so great for business since it is usually crowded and a little noisy. There's reason it's crowded-- good service, good food, and a European ambience that is a big surprise. In winter the fireplace in the dining room is lit with a fire, and you'll be sure you're in Switzerland.
