There are several details about this hotel, really a motel, that weren’t clear to us before we booked. 1. This hotel has outdoor corridors that lead to your room. It is more a motel set up. 2. The parking is extremely tight, small parking spaces and a long and skinny parking lot. The outdoor corridors with the room doors are actually over the parking lot so you have noise from people walking/talking by your room and also cars parking down below. 3. The entire property is long and skinny, our door/front room window was facing a mural-painted concrete wall and the other side of our room was facing the PCH (more noise).. so noise no matter which room you slept in. THOSE are just factors that can’t be changed about this property.

THINGS they could change: 1. The breakfast was very subpar, they ran out of fresh cut fruit and didn’t seem to re-supply the rest of the breakfast. Bland potatoes, eggs.. prepackaged pasteries.

2. The bathroom of our room was so disappointing! They attempted to make cosmetic updates but those were failing. Latex painted grout was peeling. The bathroom had a jetted tub that I can’t imagine anyone wanting to use. The vent in the bathroom was so gross. The room seemed clean enough and beds were comfortable. If the bathroom was updated, gutted and redone, it would have been a nice room.

We were regretting our decision to stay here after driving around and seeing nicer properties not far away. We are very surprised by all the glowing reviews.

Please accept my deepest apologies, not only for the specific deficiencies you noted with your room, but for your overall dissatisfaction with the Marina Shores. We fully realize that our hotel is an older building, so we have always gone the extra mile to make sure everything is as clean and sparkling as possible. Obviously, there were some serious items in your room that we missed - no excuses made, we simply failed to deliver the service we are known for. The good news is that, with this being the off season for our vacation community, we are in the middle of our preventative maintenance program so issues like the discolored floor grouting can be addressed properly.

Our free breakfast will always be a "work in progress," while trying to find a balance between nutrition, taste and value. We only started offering the fresh cut fruit within the past few weeks and are trying to get a feel for the demand. Items like this are best when purchased locally at grocers or farmer's markets to insure freshness and I know we have run short a couple of days. Our goal is to not let any of the fruit sit more than a day - we want it absolutely fresh, but truthfully, we are still learning how much to buy each day.

Normally our potatoes are seasoned with red and green peppers and onion, but on weekends, when we know there are a lot of families staying, we tend to scale back on the added items because most kids don't like them.

I appreciate all your comments and regret that we failed to meet your expectations.

My wife and I go to Dana Point at least 7 times a year. We always stay at the Best western Marina shores . People at the front desk are fantastic especially Amanda who works the night shift. We frequent Best western marina shores so much we got to know Amanda pretty well. She always takes care of any problems we may have with our room. Amanda my wife and I (Kathy and Nob) we say to you thank you you are the best. And the rest of the team members we know we will get to know you guys too as we visit Dana point. Keep up the good work.

I spent Christmas Eve at this hotel for the first time. A nice place. It was a pleasant surprise having a tv in the bathroom and the whirlpool tub was great. Customer service was pleasant and professional, and it didn’t take long for my requests to be attended to. I was also happy that a bible was in my room as well as Christian TV programming; I’ve lodged at some Best Western hotels that didn’t offer either amenity. The gym was ok.

It would be good to install a sign to instruct how to turn on the room’s lamps, because a wall switch is used for that purpose. But everything else was fine.

Breakfast was delicious and discovering an auto-pancake machine was interesting. I would suggest making sugar-free oatmeal and other grains available for those wanting to avoid presweetened cereal.

Had a great time at a good price.

Hi Betty!

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. It was our pleasure to provide you with exemplary service and we are all so happy that we helped make for a memorable holiday.

You'll be happy to know that we are updating our cereal selections in the breakfast room to provide for healthier options and less sugar. Oh ... and regarding that wall switch ... we are supposed to leave the switch in the on position all the time and let the guests use the switches on the individual lamps, just to cut down on the very confusion you experienced. I'm sorry that we missed that before you checked in.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western over the Christmas holidays since our daughter and son-in-law's home is undergoing construction. We were pleased with the service and rates, and enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.

Hi Sharon!

First and foremost, a belated Merry Christmas to you and your entire family! We are all so happy that you enjoyed your time with us and that we helped make your holiday just a little bit more special. While we would love to welcome you back next year, we hope all the construction will be long since completed and that you can spend Christmas with your daughter her husband all under one roof!

This BW is definitely the best of its class. It is managed and runs super well. We stayed here 6 nights, felt like we moved in, and we had a wonderful experience!

Great location. A lot of restaurants within 1-2 blocks. Rib joint, Thai, pizza, Australia coffee, organic juice, McDonald’s, Denny’s....
it’s 0.8 mile to beautiful Dana Point Harbor. There are tens of seafood restaurants, cafes, ice cream, souvenir, clothing stores.... it’s a fun place to hang out.
We were there during Christmas holidays, the lights are just magnificent!

Every employee is very friendly and helpful, always smiling. Whatever we asked for, more hangers, towels... we got it in a few minutes.

Complimentary breakfast is the best you can get, hot eggs, ham, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, pastries, pancake, coffee, tea.... it’s very tasty too.
They don’t use cheap stuffs here. They try hard.

The carpet and some furnishings are a bit old, but everything is very clean and neat.
We stayed at the room with whirlpool, it was spacious, has plenty cabinets and amenities.
We are very happy with our stay. Whenever we come back to this area, we’ll definitely stay here.
