I am really disappointed in the service my girlfriend and I got when we stayed in this hotel.
Everything seemed fine when we got there, front desk was friendly but then we got to our room and it smelled like someone was SMOKING in the room! (non smoking hotel) we went to the front desk to tell them so they can take care of it and they said they will send a machine to take out the smell.... (they didn't even offer to move us to a new room) we waited and waited and it never showed up. We didn't want to deal with talking to them anymore so we dealt with the smell. We stayed two nights and not once did they ask us about it or bring the dam machine to take out the smell!!! Even the next morning we can still smell the smoke!!! Not staying here again!!!!

also if you check in on yelp you get a free night for parking. I showed them that and the guy at the front desk said okay I will take care of that... when i check my account statement at the end of the month I was charged for parking!!!

Very sorry to hear about the service failing at the hotel and I assure you I will look into why the ozone machine was never brought up for you. The desk couldn't offer to move your room because we were sold out the two nights you were here, but we certainly should have been able to take care of the smoke smell. Yes, we are a smoke free property and we do have the equipment to remove almost any odor in a room. Regarding the parking charge, I contacted Orbitz and asked them to get ahold of you and advise that the charge has been refunded. I hope you will reconsider staying with us again and giving us a chance to show you what a REAL Marina Shores Hotel stay is like.

No view from the 2nd floor (except of McDonalds across PCH). Didn't use the hotel's internet, because our computers connected automatically to McDonald's. Room keys didn't work most of the time (put it in and take it out at least 5 times before the door unlocks). Parking was $10; I wish hotels would just raise the room rate instead of adding fees. Don't plan on sleeping late because of traffic noise from the Pacific Coast Highway. No microwave in room.

On the plus side: Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the attendant didn't rush us out. Dana Point Harbor is nearby, so be sure to walk around the docks at the Ocean Institute, see the tall ships, and watch the ocean waves from benches high above the spray.

We stayed 1 night at the hotel on our way to San Diego. The location was fabulous, a short walk to the beach and harbor as well as nearby many restaurant options. The free breakfast was more than a traditional continental and very good. The room was clean and comfortable and included a jacuzzi bath tub. We enjoyed everything about this hotel!

This is a very nice motel but I would not call it a hotel. The doors of the suite room all open to the outside. That being said, this motel is nicely located right on the PCH in Dana Point not far off the I-5 but far enough away to not here the I-5 noise. It is right on the PCH so if road noise bother you, this is not your motel. The parking is around back and is pretty tight. Maneuvering a big car all the way around to the exit in the front is similar to a Disney ride but can be done if you drive slowly. They charge you $10 a night for this experience. I understand urban environment hotels charging but not here. This is simply another fee that you must add into the rate to find the true rate.

The lobby is small and a walk thru from front to back of the motel. There is a nice breakfast room and a sitting room on each floor. Our suite was on the third floor down a long outside hallway. Again, not bad just something to think about if you have someone that does not walk well. The room was very nice. A small suite with a front sitting room that contained a fold out couch and two easy chairs, a flat screen TV and a large mini fridge tucked into the TV console. The bathroom was in the short hallway and contain a mini sink and a small but deep jacuzzi tub/shower. The bedroom has a door. (It is always nice when a suite is actually a suite with two distinct rooms and a door. I can't count how many times traveling with kids when we asked for a suite so we would have privacy only to find a big room with a divider. This was a suite). The bedroom had a nice king bed, another flat screen on a dresser, a desk in a small alcove where the coffee service sits. There was a nice small balcony with chair that had a view of the distant ocean and harbor and closer of the Taco Bell across the street. Still, a nice touch. The room has a tiny through the wall admiral air conditioner that vents to the patio. This is in the wall down low and faces the desk alcove. Chilly to sit at the desk and work if the air is running. There is no air in the sitting room. A fan is built into the doorway between the two room but it is small and very loud. It was cool when we stayed so opening the window and slider in both rooms provided a breeze. Full breakfast. Eggs, bacon or sausage, pancake machine, fruit coffee etc. Better than most and nice for a fast getaway.

We had a lot of trouble with the key. You had to use the key to get into the elevator from the outside. There are no arrows or help. Every trip took multiple attempts, even after we determined the right direction and side. Not fund to stand trying over and over to get in with luggage.

Staff. The gentleman that met us when we checked in was cordial and business like. We joked about the view and he sent us on up. Not so pleasant at check out. The desk was inhabited by two sullen staff members; a young woman and a man. Neither greeted my on my approach. Both were frowning and looking at paperwork. There was no one else in the lobby or even nearby. I told the young man I was checking out of Room 335. He ignored me and continued doing whatever was more important than the guest in front of him. Nothing from the young woman. I started to repeat my request and he held up his hand. Hmmm. Finally he said, oh you want to check out of room 225 and started to look it up. A place that calls itself a hotel, charges to park and is considered a "Plus" or upper end of the chain, should really train their people in customer service. I have returned to places with OK beds and Ok rooms just because I loved the staff. That will not be the case here. There are many nice hotels and motels in the Dana Point area. This one has a nice new room. That's about it.

Room Tip: Some rooms are way out. If you have elderly travelers as for closer to the elevator. Rooms face th...

We stayed here for 7 nights on a family vacation. We were extremely happy with this hotel. The location is great, very close to the harbor and beach. The room was very clean. the beds were very comfortable. The hotel itself is very attractive inside and out. The staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay again! I am very picky with hotels and this one met my standards! The city of Dana Point is a beautiful city!

The hotel was close to the beach and easy access to San Diego and Los Angeles. The room was modern and clean. The breakfast was outstanding. We enjoyed the jet bath tub. We had a suite and this gave us a home type feeling.
