Sunshine, surfing, and a nice sandy beach. Great pavilion for picnics, safety and loads of activities. A nice place to spend an afternoon, and MUCH less crowded than Laguna Beach!

“Love the ocean, but not the sand? Fantastic views on a grassy knoll overlooking the ocean!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you are around south Orange County in CA, or even just passing thru, this is a must see place. Bring a folding chair(s) if you have them, a book, blanket and something to drink or eat, and you will be set for a very relaxing time. Enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean! Bring a picnic and sit for hours. Unlike most beaches that only have a sandy shore, this one has a expansive grassy area that kids can run around, throw freezebies, fly kites and picnic without getting a speck of sand on your feet! The view is incredible! For only a dollar and hour parking, it is so worth it! If you like to venture farther, and see the tide pools, you can walk down the path about 10-15 min. walk. Coming back up, it is better to take a zigzag path back up than to climb straight up, as it can be strenuous to some. Don't bring too much down there as it is a steep climb up. If you have a lot of stuff, take turns with your companions going down while others keep an eye on your stuff.

Do not forget to pay the parking fee, even if you have to look for the pay station in the parking lot. I think it only takes quarters, dollar bills, and credit cards. Display parking stubs of dashboard. If you forget to pay, you might get a ticket! They do come around and check.

If you come during the weekend, it may be crowded. But during the weekday, you might be the only one.

Be on the lookout for dolphins, and whales, they do come around. I was with a friend from out of town once and was happily surprised by a school of dolphins along the coast! I thought they were surfers at first because they were so close to the shoreline, but it was a pod of dolphins frolicking along the coast!

“The Better Beach in Dana Point”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Especially beautiful, more serene but also good surfing, and great picnics areas plus a giant sloping lawn to watch the sunset. This is the best beach in this area, and plenty of low-priced parking.

“Beautiful Beach, Stunning Sunset!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

Salt Creek Beach is gorgeous, especially at sunset. It is very clean, as the Ritz sweeps seaweed off of it every day. Waves are great for kids to boogie board. Great beach to visit while in Dana Point.

“Beautiful but crowded beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

Gorgeous beach and views though very crowded and waves big for kids to surf, although boogie boarding great for kids. If you stay at ritz, they set up chairs and have boards for you as we'll as a shuttle--great help!
