“view to die for.. front staff a bit cold”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2012

as far as the view it is awesome... a picture moment from the deck for sure..this restaraunt is not cheap for sure but the food is pretty darn good.

two complaints. i had the end cut prime rib andit was a bit dry.. that was a surprise.
second complaint was the front staff that seats you. they use freindly words but their dont show it on their faces. they act upset that you are making them work. and they have this thing called VIP (for hotel guests). they are real nice if a hotel sent you via the conciere, but it is noticeable when "regular" people walk in.

they need to be nicer to all of us..

“Good Food, Wine and a View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

We've always like any Chart House we've visited, but as this one is in our home town, we probably like it the best. Great view of the Dana Point Harbor, great menus, good bar. We've been going to their wine and food pairings held every other month. Fantastic!!!

“Too Pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

The food is always good and the view is stunning. However I think they are pushing the prices a little too high. I acknowledge it's a high rent district and maintaing a nuclear hardened bomb shelter may also be costly, but to be a regular night business dinner venue it needs to watch its prices.

“Favorite Chart House So Far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

I have eaten at several Chart House restaurants, particularly on Maui during the 80's and 90's, and a few in southern California beach communities over the years. This one is by far my favorite. The setting at Dana Point will take your breath away as this restaurant is perched atop a high sea cliff overlooking the beautiful Dana Point Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. The panoramic views are simply stunning. The building itself consists of several circular areas which allow for panoramic views from almost evey table.

The service was out of this world, complete with a warm welcome by the manager and the wait staff. The menu offered one of my favorite Hawaiian fish (macadamia nut encrusted Ono), so I jumped at the opportunity to have that, and I was not disappointed. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his lobster and said it was prepared perfectly. It was as if I had been transported back to the islands when my meal arrived. The salad bar is very good and fresh, and even offers caviar. You can also order several varieties of dinner salads if you don't want the salad bar.

My disappointment with Chart House in general is that they no longer do their once famous mud pie, but the lava cake (provided to us complimentary as we were celebrating a special occasion) was very delicious.

If you are within driving distance of Dana Point, I highly recomment this great restaurant. Reservations are strongly suggested as they were very busy, and we visited on a week-day. There is valet parking available. If you do this option, there are several stairs to get down to the restaurant level. They will bring your car back down to you at the end of the meal if you don't want to do the stairs back up. There is also restaurant level self parking where you don't have to worry about any stairs.

I hope to be able to go back again one day the next time I am in California. It was definately a favorite stop along a long California coastal trip.

“A view to die for!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012 via mobile

Great food, yes it is expensive, but you are paying for the view. The food is wonderful. Why do I say overpriced? Well, the portions are small. Yes, it is true, great food but European portions. Get over it. It is a great evening
