“Quiet weekend”
Reviewed August 26, 2010

We were visiting friends in Santa Ana & Newport Beach and we booked this hotel using Hilton points because they offered a pointsaver rate.

It is located somewhat out of the way, off the main drag, but convenient all the same. We were able to walk in nearby residential neighborhoods and adjacent strip malls with no worries about traffic or harrassment. Just about everything you might needs is handy, including a Target a block away.

Service was excellent. At check-in when I asked the front desk clerk if there was an In-n-Out Burger close by, she drew a map and wrote directions without hesitation.

The room was clean and comfortable. I would have liked a microwave and mini fridge, but none were available. I would also have liked a little more insulation between rooms, but the property seemed pretty empty over the weekend so there was only the one guy talking loudly and coughing in the morning. I used the business center to print boarding passes before checking out and wi-fi was available in the room.

Breakfast was a little lame, even by Hampton standards. Eggs were powdery and hash browns were not browned. Cereal, juice, coffee, fruit and pastries were fresh and available long into the morning. I'd have tried the waffles, but the machine was hogged by a couple teens straight out of Fast Times @ Ridgemont High a la Sean Penn. Each had a stack of 5 by the time he was finished. IHOP anyone?

We stayed here for a night and LOVED IT. IT was super clean, roomy, quiet and offered excellent service. WE went to stay a night in Pasadena and had such an AWFUL experience that we drove back the extra 45 minutes to stay in this hotel. GREAT place. Great value!

Stayed there for three nights. Fairly close to Disneyland. Great free breakfast. Very nice rooms. Hampton Inn has a great bedding. Be sure to sign up for Hilton Honors 300% bonus before booking.

Spent one night here last week. The parking lot was easy to navigate, the lobby was sufficient and handled by very courteous staff. Elevators were fast and clean. The room was spacious as far as these types of properties are concerned, and overall very comfortable. The bed was as good as the Heavenly Beds at Westin Hotels. The bathroom was clean and sufficient, with a coffee maker found on one of the shelves.

The only downside was that my room was on the end of the hotel and it took about 1 minute for hot water to reach the shower and the air conditioning made a loud noise as it cycled on and off.

The breakfast buffet was average but plentiful, with scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, toast and bagels, fresh fruit and fruit salad, juices, coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. What a great treat but I would recommend getting there early before the quality of the hot food begins to diminish or run out.

I used the business center using my room key for access, which included free internet access and a printer, along with typical business / office supplies.

I think the staff really made this hotel a great place to stay. My hats off to Kat Thompson, the manager. She was about as nice as hotel managers can be.

My family stayed at the Hampton Inn in Cypress over the holidays to visit family nearby.

Pros: The rooms were large, clean and well apointed. The beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The pool was warm, even in December. The Business Center was easy to access and there was no fee for fonline access using your own computer anywhere in the hotel. The Fitness center had several different machines so there was no wait. This hotel is off the main road (Katella) in a quiet business area.

Cons: The hallways were kept very cold, so much so we needed a jacket to get to and from our room. We had very noisy neighbors (not the hotels fault) so the walls could be better sound insulated.

Complimentary Breakfast Bar: Fresh fruit, mixed fruit, mini muffins, toast, bagels, mix for oatmeal, sweetrolls, various yogurt single serving containers. Juices (apple/orange/cranberry), Coffee (robust/regular/decaf), water (hot and cold), hot chocolate, tea. There was also a hot selection which changed daily usually some kind of sausage and either eggs or waffles. In our experience the hot breakfast selection was not the greatest, but all the other selections available more than made up for that.

Plus side: hotel was very clean, staff was pleasant and helpful, check in quick, parking convenient. Lots of pillows and towels. Beds fairly comfortable. Rooms spacious. Quick and easy internet access.

Minus side: The main negative is that the rooms are noisy (can hear TV clearly from next room and all noise from halls). Hot breakfast items slow to be refilled (waited 15 mins for eggs). Beds good but not as comfortable as some Hampton Inn beds (were they updated recently, as many have been?). Can be tricky to find as is a bit off the main street. and is isolated--no stores, shops or restaurants within walking distance.

Fine for business travelers because of the cleanliness and the easy internet access. Allow a little extra time for breakfast and be aware that you will need to drive a bit to get to any destination. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper in case the neighbor is watching a late movie on TV!

Not much for kids to do beyond the pool, which is clean but very basic, and autumn/winter nights the weather is too cool outdoors to use it.

I wouldn't take the time to recommend to a friend, because while it was just fine for a business trip it really was not extraordinary enough to bother going out of the way for. But I would not object to staying here again if the company sends us back.

I recently had occasion to travel to Santa Ana for business, and after searching extensively online for a place to stay, decided on the Hampton inn in Cypress, CA. I only like very nice hotels, but this time I was traveling on a very tight budget. Some of the discount-type hotels looked like they might be over-run by DisneyLand visitors. I was looking for a quiet place to do my work and sleep soundly.

I couldn't have been happier with my choice. This hotel is located in an industrial park that was EXTREMELY quiet. As reported in one of the other reviews, it is more upscale than most Hampton Inns.

The bedding was all white cotton (including duvet); the room was spacious; and the bathroom was as nice as any Marriott I've been to recently. The housekeeping was excellent. Literally the only housekeeping faux pas I could find was a bit of mold growing in a few spots on the caulk inside the shower. But this was extremely minor. The common areas and room were spotless.

Some of the things I enjoyed might not matter to others, but they did to me... 1. The lights in the room and bathroom were actually BRIGHT! I am so tired of staying in places where I can barely see. I'm all for saving energy but some hotels go overboard on the dim lighting. Not here. 2. I could actually open the window. All of the way. 3. I paid a little extra to have a refrigerator in my room and it was extremely QUIET.

I didn't have time to use much of the facilities, so cannot report on the pool, health club, business center, etc.

But if I am every in the area, I will definitely stay there again.
