The park would be lovely if the duck pond had water and ducks in it, but because of the drought the duck pond has been drained and there is no water and no ducks.
This is a wonderful park, it's quite large, lots of grassy areas, a lovely pond with ducks. It's got an okay play yard for kids. But it's really nice to walk around with pets on leashes, or just to sit in the shade and admire the park. They sometimes have concerts with music, and craft fairs.
Cupertino Memorial Park is a gathering place, a place for kids to play, a place for Shakespere in the Park, a place for events, picnics, and a real place for remembrance of our veterans. Its the home of the Cupertino Senior Center, the backyard of the Quinlan (sp?) Community Center, a place for sports including tennis, and much more. Sometimes the man-made lake has water (not so much these days). A nice place for a day of experience.
The Cupertino Veteran's Memorial is special. The annual Veteran's Day November 11th at 11AM celebration is a great opportunity to honor our military men and women who serve our country. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Bring the entire family. The Cupertino Memorial Park is a great neighborhood setting and perfect for families to enjoy. Thanks to the City staff for the up-keep.
Now that the ponds are emptied (clean, too) no geese are there to mess the place up. Nicely placed picnic tables, seats, a small children's playground, a war memorial, etc. are all there. This is a fairly large suburban park, with lots of paved and some unpaved trails. It is adjacent to the Cupertino Quinlan Center and the Cupertino Senior Center. It is also the site of various festivals throughout the year. I'm in the area several times a month, and always see individuals exercising, walking their dogs, strolling with young children, sitting and reading, etc.
This park has always been a favorite. there are swing sets for children, ball park, some places to cook, and small hills to sit and watch. one unfortunate thing that has happened is this. Cupertino has emptied the lake. by doing this, many of the ducks and birds are no longer there. It was so nice to see the little yellow chicks in spring, as well as have the geese walking around with you. nice park, but a bit empty without the water :(
