“Family Run Chinese Restaurant”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

I have been eating at golden china for many years, I would like to attest to the quality of food this Mandarin Chinese restaurant serves. It is a traditional American-esq style Chinese restaurant with great flavor that has adapted to the modern trends. They offer a vegetarian menu for those looking to avoid meat( or meat by products) that rivals the best of all Chinese restaurants, and for the traditionalists, they have an wonderful array of foods you'd expect from a good Chinese restaurant. ( If you are expecting Panda Express go else where, if you want mandarin Chinese food, put your self in a seat or order it delivery)

Now as far as what I recommend. I absolutely love their Wor Wanton Soup, It a small meal for one person or a great soup to share with a couple people. It is filled with Chicken , bbq pork chunks, shrimp, bamboo chutes, mushrooms, carrots spinach , pea pods and most importantly Wantons in a chicken broth.

After soup, I tend to go with their mixed cashew chicken and shrimp and shrimp in lobster sauce, And Chicken Fried Rice. All are filled with flavor but expect the rice to be on the slightly greasy side ( It is fried rice in all).

All in all the restaurant has been in the same ownership for a very long time and is a mom and pop shop. It has great food, and continues to try to keep up with the times.

My wife keeps tricking me into going to veggie joints that have faux meat on the menu. This restuarant has a large veggie menu with all sorts of soy meat substitutes. I ordered the faux orange chicken and she the black bean fish. A side of veggie rolls too.

Service was quick and the servers attentive. The restaurant is large and empty on Saturday night.

The veggie rolls arrived first. They were hot but mushy, greasy, and tastless. If you bit into them they would shoot a hot stream of cooking oil across the table.

The fish was anything but fish like. Some flat pieces of something that was tough and hard to cut. The bean sauce was simply nasty.

The orange chicken was in a black viscous sauce that was definitely not orange in color or taste. I could not identify it at all. The faux chicken was in a deep fried crust and was actually somewhat chicken-like. The sauce however ruined whatever promise the fake meat held. Indeed, I was trying to get the taste out of mouth for the rest of the evening.

I can't say if the real Chinese food was any better but the veggie options were simply disgusting.

“Average Chinese restaurant, good food!”
Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

After reading the other two reports, I am surprised to report, the Food was actually good, and fresh tasting. We ordered a lot of food using a restaurant.com coupon. WonTon soup with noodles was excellent, and huge. Po-Po platter was good, main entrees were a sizzling beef (not sizzling, but tasty), and spicy shrimp and scallops, all very good. Did make a trip to the bathroom. It was clean, and did have soap. No trip to the kitchen. Had I read those other reports first I would not have gone here! But in retrospect, we enjoyed it.

“bad food and awful service”
Reviewed April 21, 2008

Place is disaster. First, the restroom is very dirty, no soap and no paper.
We ordered fried rice shrimp, beef chou mein and shrimp with vegetables.
Food had no taste, no flavor. Bad, really bad...Bill was $32. The waiter was rude and ignorant. Awful, awful, awful...

Panda Express looks is royal food compared to this place.

“So, so BAD!”
Reviewed March 8, 2006

This is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had bar none. The service wasn't very good either. They must know the food is atrocious, because they never came back to check on us.
