Hotel Jeffery has new owners, Forrest and Sara, and they were simply terrific. They have done a great job furnishing, and it was great to be able to stay there once more after too long of a gap. Coulterville in my opinion remains the most unspoiled of the old gold rush towns, and the centerpiece of Coulterville is Hotel Jeffery. We arrived much later than we anticipated, and they took care of us extremely well.

Room Tip: The room that Teddy Roosevelt slept in must be the most historical, and it can be selected if availa...

We were lucky enough to be there the day that they brought in local musicians to play celtic and 'old time' music in the saloon. It was a wonderful jam session with more musicians coming in during the afternoon. The saloon is very family friendly and serves delicious and huge! meals. The owners couldn't have been nicer and paid special attention to our aged 'grand dog' and our curious and lively grand daughter. The hotel, as mentioned in other reviews, is old, but well kept. Even though all rooms don't have ensuite bathrooms, there are more than enough so that no one had to wait. We had room 8 which has a small sitting room attached and it was very comfortable and gave us a nice place to hang out with our famliiy. In the morning there was a free breakfast buffet in the dining room. We really enjoyed the whole experience, felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again.

We stayed one night at Hotel Jeffery, and old, old hotel from 1850s, gold rush days. The town is tiny, maybe 200 residents. The hotel is supposedly haunted with 17 ghosts. Of course I borrowed their ghost hunting kit =). I ended up scaring myself more than anything. There was no internet or cell access so we sat in the saloon after dinner talking and chatting with the hotel owners and locals. Turn back the clock to 1800s. The hotels owners are new and have just reopened the hotel in the past four months and furnished the entire hotel with antiques, real ones. Breakfast was included in the price of the hotel, served on the owners old china and old silverware. Clean, crisp sheets and pillows, no cable or phones in the room, but they have a TV room and TV in the saloon. It's not fancy, turn the clock 150 years, it's really old and just plain fun!

Had a perfect time at the Jeffery. We arrived late and we're greeted with a smile by the owner and after checking in she showed us to our suite. The rooms we're cozy and we even had our own sitting room. Then we went down stairs to the Magnolia Saloon for a fantastic "Cowboy Burger", and a "COLD" beer. The staff we're very nice and we even got to enjoy some good music, as there was a band that night. We then took a stroll through the historic town and met some of the local shop owners. Finally we went upstairs to our sitting room and had wine, then snuggled down for a good night sleep. We had to leave early in the morning and the owner was kind enough to have hot coffee ready for us to take along. This is a beautiful historic hotel and we will return and hope to spend more than one night. Lots to see in the area, so this is a good staging spot.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 8 & 9, we both had our own bathroom and large beds. Bonus was our own sitting...
