Best shopping in California, upscale mall, beautiful restaurants and people watching, we always stop off for an Italian coffee and people watch. Great stores, easy parking, allow a full day.

Since moving from Orange County 16 years ago, we always make time to shop and eat at South Coast Plaza. Wonderful restaurants throughout the Center.

A massive, trendy, upscale mall with all of the top stores. The range of stores comes with a range of prices but this is for those looking for quality and service as opposed to deal shoppers. With this said, many stores have some great advanced sales and promotions. Deals might not be easy to come by but when found, they are worthwhile.

There are plenty of great restaurants of all price ranges as well. If you are looking for one store or for one day of shopping, this is the place to be.

Caveats:
1) It is a very large and busy mall. If you are in a time crunch, this could be a challenge.
2)The parking lots surround the mall with plenty of narrow slots - heard of many people getting dings and scrapes on their cars when they come back from shopping. If you value your car, place it in a far spot and content yourself on your walk back with a your smart choice.

Enjoy and try to stay out of debt! ;)

If you have never been to South Coast Plaza it offers high end shopping with some average priced stores also.Has interesting dining inside the mall as well as around the exterior.
If you love shopping this may be for you! I would also check out nearby fashion island.
Stores range in the plaza from Sears to Macys to the upscale end with Saks and chanel.

There's a sense of space and openness - huge variety of up-scale shopping that you'd find in Paris or Rome, and there is still a Sears. Includes "famous" Carousel, children's train across at annex, and beautiful stained glass dome ceiling in front of Macy's. Lots of food choices - but NOT a food court kind of place. The annex across street has lots of home stores (Crate & Barrel flagship store, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm etc etc etc) as well as such places as Anthropologie and Wahoo's. Altogether you can't find a bigger selection of shops and restaurants.
