“Really enjoyable stay!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the Best Western Corte Madera at the end of Sept 2012. We had left it quite late to book, so were pleased to get a room. We have been to the hotel before many years ago and liked it then, but were pleased to see it had been updated.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The pool is wonderful - a decent size heated pool - not just a big puddle like so many other places! You can swim decent lengths. There is also a very large hot tub which is wonderful. They also have table tennis, putting green and shuffle board around the outside of the pool area/garden.

The rooms are large have been updated and have a more modern feel about them, the bathrooms are still original and although they are perfectly adequate they tend to let the room down.

Eventhough this hotel is right next to a major freeway (101), it is surprisingly quiet - you do hear the traffic going past as you sit by the pool, but it is no where near as loud as you would think it would be.

We had an evening flight and asked if we could have a late check out, but as it was fully booked that was not possible, but the staff did allow us to stay by the pool and use the facilities there until we left, which was very much appreciated.

The breakfast is brought to your room depending on which time slot you reuqest. The fruit juice and coffee are fine, but the yoghurts were the same strawberry flavour each day and there was a rather stodgy muffin, rather than a light pastry - so that was slightly disappointing.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms by the pool are lovely and have doors opening on the pool/garden area.

Returning to S.F. late after a gathering out on the Marin coast -didn't want to brave the Sat nt traffic into S.F. so pulled into this Best Western next to gas station/fwy entrance. Close to fwy & reasonably priced. The room had a rather odd design in the way it was laid out but was clean & the bed was comfy. Continental breakfast was delivered to my room at no extra cost in the morning too. I was delighted when I opened the windows lining one wall of my room to a 'Natl Geographic show' of white & grey herons in the trees & water just outside my window. The waterway by the deli/restaurant next door & the old trees next to the motel seem to be a favorite haunt of these beautiful birds. Next I noticed the hotel had a lovely grass area out back and a HUGE (has to be larger than olympic sized) outdoor heated pool. The motel must have been built 'back in the day' as the grounds are so much larger than one would expect to find nowadays at this type of motel. I swam in the pool & used the adjacent hot tub while basking in golden sunlight. Delightful! There is a small workout room with good equipment and easy instruction to facilitate a half hour (or more) workout too. To paraphrase our former Gov- "I'll be back"

Room Tip: Try Room 228 - two beds - spectacular bird show.

This is another hotel that I only used for a brief stay of one night, so I can't comment on gym/pool/etc.

I can only comment on the room itself and the bathroom, which weren't in the best condition anymore. Our room must have been close to the hotel's own facilities rooms, as it became quite noisy around 8 am, when the employees distributed breakfast baskets. Unfortunately we had only arrived at 2 am the night before, so a quieter environment would have been more useful to us.

The wifi was free and, when it worked, fast - which sadly it hardly ever did. The connection had so many total drops that it was almost unusable.

Combined with the fact that this hotel cost almost twice as much as the ones we had stayed at further up north - it made our stay feel like a let-down.

Thank you for your comments, we really appreciate you letting us know of the problem you encountered with our complimentary internet service and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. This is not a normal occurrence and in fact we have just recently upgraded our band with as well as the number of access points throughout the hotel. Also, again we apologize for any noise that may have disturbed you. Our breakfast delivery comes from a location within the hotel that is away from our guest rooms. We do feel that our guest room rates are extremely competitive with other hotels in southern Marin County. Thank you! Bill Blackburn, General Manager

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days as a Photo Crew. The service was very effective and friendly, the staff always works to make your needs come true.
The beddings are among the best I've had, super soft beds with very clean and comfortable pillows. Fast free internet in most of the rooms.Good morning coffee served in a basket in your room. Conveniently located next to a shopping mall that offers all basic services such as Pharmacy, supermarket, restaurants and basic shopping.
Very close to Sausalito, Tiburon, and Hiw.1, that goes to Muir woods and the headlands!
I really recommend this hotel for family, friends or business!

Our family of four stayed two nights at this hotel and we were very pleased. One of our rooms (131) had a courtyard view which was very nice as there were wicker chairs to enjoy our morning coffee. The in room coffee is very convenient and is a large thermal pot of Seattle's Best Coffee. Our other room (129) was very large with two queen beds and a bar area with a sink and fridge. Beds in both room were very comfortable. Complimentary breakfast basket are served in the morning consisting of a large muffin, yogourt, fruit, juice and coffee. You need to order the breakfast before 11 pm on the previous night. I enjoyed the heated pool one morning and it was relaxing. The internet in the rooms is a bit slow but there are two very fast computers in the lobby. Nice location as it is close to a mall and assorted restaurants. I felt the price of $159 was very reasonable and this hotel is close to Sonoma and Napa to the north and close to San Francisco to the south.

Room Tip: I would ask for a main floor room facing the courtyard.

We (ages 72-16) stayed here before a visit to Muir Woods & San Francisco. The property was lovely. The rooms were clean and everything was perfect. Had dinner delivered to the room from Max's next door. Breakfast basket served from there free of charge the next morning.. Included cereal, muffins, OJ, yougurt, coffee and fruit. Everything was the right temperature & at the time we requested. A newspaper was also delivered. The kids wanted to stay and use all the facilities (ping pong, shuffleboard, pool, spa, grill and fire pit. Will definitely plan to stay several nights on our next trip. I saw my first Ca. hummingbird there in one of the many flowering trees. The staff and central lobby couldn't have been nicer.
