Hubby and I were visiting San Diego and took a drive over to Coronado, only about a 15 minute ride from Point Lomas where we were staying. It was a Friday night, around 5:30 when we walked into Il Fornaio. It seemed busy, but we were seated right away at a table at the window with a gorgeous view! We were thrilled! The bread was brought out piping hot and served with olive oil and balsamic. The bread was outstanding! Very rustic, very Italian. Hubby and I both had a Caprese salad and while it didn't look like much for the cost ($11), the tomatoes were thick and the mozzarella was plentiful. I had the small plate of Ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and walnuts. It was 3 HUGE raviolis and I could only eat two (after that salad and all that bread!) Hubby had spaghetti (he is not much for trying new things) and had a large portion and ate it all! The waiter was attentive. I am not sure if he really had an accent, or if it was for the job, but he was a bit difficult to understand. It was a wonderful meal for our last evening in San Diego!

The location is amazing with the view of the city and the harbor. Though this is one of several locations for this restaurant, it doesn't feel like a "chain." The menu is great, the food delicious. The carpaccio appetizer is one of my favorites.

I visit both this location and Del Mar and always enjoy myself. Definitely recommend!

We eat often at Il Fornaio in Delmar, so it was a treat to find one so close to The Marriott where we were staying.

Fabulous! My whole family loved this meal! Our 14 & 12 yr old ordered fettuccine Alfredo. My husband & I shared 2 meals- an arugula-proscuitto pizza & pasta bolognese. We also ordered the carpaccio foran appetizer. Everything was wonderful! We sat outside & the view of the water was beautiful.

We've always enjoyed our meals at Il Fornaio however this time the Sea Bass was a miss! It was overcooked, very dry. The manager didn't charge us for the sea bass. I started with their Pumaroru cu Piacentinu Ennese which was organic heirloom tomatoes, Piacentinu Ennese cheese, onions, caperberries, black olives and extra-virgin
olive oil. I had Pasta chi Purpetti, home made pasta, veal meatballs with a red wine pancetta sauce was delicious. My Secondi was Girelle con Filetto D'Agnello, which was
Grilled lamb tenderloin with mint salmoriglio; served with caponata and roasted potatoes. The Sicilia Wine Flight was a perfect complement to my 3 course meal. For dessert: Cassatina della Contessa: Layered sponge cake with triple sec and lemon custard, glazed in white and dark chocolates with chopped pistachios; served with crème anglaise and
raspberry sauce. The white chocolate was hard to cut into but didn't matter. It was delicious.
