I was treated to Il Fornaio on Saturday for Father's Day. Had a great time. Perfect location with a fantastic view across the bay to the the skyline of my favorite city and hometown, San Diego.
The food was very good. Each month a different region of Italy is featured and currently Liguria is being highlighted. I had Sea Bass prepared in a Ligurian style, maybe a little bit bland for my taste but very good. Though our interactions with all the staff were exceptional, who really made the evening memorable was our server, Massimo! As another reviewer mentioned, most of the staff is American but native Italian, Massimo, really succeeded in taking us back to a wonderful couple of weeks we recently spent in Italy. To maximize the enjoyment of your time at Il Fornaio I would definitely ask for his station when making your reservation.
