We visited the San Diego area during the week of July 4th, so the Coronado Island area was very busy. We walked along Orange Avenue and decided to eat at Miguel's Cocina, as the company that owns The Brigantine Restaurant owns this one, too. We loved the Brigantine!
Miguel's has a nice Mexican feel to it, with Mexican music playing on their sound system, lots of decorations from Mexico, and the food was very good. Their food offerings include entrees that are not too spicy, but you could get the hot stuff if you wanted. They serve great margaritas of all different flavors, but it is quite pricey. I switched to a tap beer after having a margarita due to the cost.
The service was very good, the server was very attentive, and the staff clearing plates did a great job. My only complaint about this place is the loudness of the environment inside the restaurant. Perhaps it would be better to eat outside, if you can, so the sound isn't so loud. With the tile floors, there is no sound buffers to absorb the kitchen-like clanging of plates, the wheels of the bussing carts, and the dropping of any silverware. It was so loud we had to really project our voices to our family members to be heard.
I would go back, but I would sit outside next time.
