The island itself is well worth staying on for a relaxing, peaceful break. Gorgeous runs along the beach or through manicured lawn streets are great early in the mornings, and the weather during the days is mild and well suited for sight seeing.

It all starts with the grand entry from the bridge which offers breathtaking view of the the city. There used to a toll charge on the bridge that now has been removed making the entry to the island totally free. We visited there on Sunday (holiday season) and were pleasantly surprised that street parking was free. You can park on the Orange ave towards the beach, plenty of street parking available. There is a park near the beach that offers great view of the San Diego skyline. Tonnes of restaurant and cafes are available on the Orange ave. Weather usually is very pleasant and this small beautiful island has its own charm..!!
Weather. Lovely scenery. Pleasant salespeople on Orange Ave. Gotta tour the Del. Eat breakfast at Clayton's on Orange Ave!
What an entrance over the bridge, beautiful views, even Naval ships. Lovely eateries, nice boutiques to shop in. Pacific Ocean looked so inviting totally opposite of the North Sea lol. My trip to California was amazing, the people are so friendly and helpful
The hotel is huge and is right on the beach. Essentially an elite shopping mall under the hotel. Went running on the beach, which is huge and gorgeous. Apparently it goes onto a military installation, because some soldiers with rifles started chasing us yelling to stop. Watch where you go!
Also should mention the giant bridge you go over to get to Coronado.
Love the whole San Diego thing; Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Coronado, Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.
Actually visited way before January 2013, but no option for earlier visit.
