We liked the weather (50 - 70 deg. temp. daily range) on a great Pacific beach and the upscale casual feel of the locals and the visitors. Coronado has a large military commitment, some commercial business, and many full time residents. It is not just a beach vacation area and access to downtown and the coast cities to the North is quite simple (LaJolla, Del Mar, etc.). The island dining is excellent in selection and quality.
Life is friendly and casual with little to no see or be seen parading done, and relaxing is easy to do. We drove up the Coast and visited the "sights" in San Diego, then retreated back to Coronado to lay back - so we had Island culture and big city attractions 10 mins across the bridge or by ferry.
We will be back next year....
