Owner description: A mere two-mile drive from cosmopolitan, downtown San Diego, across one of the world's most distinctive bridges, is Coronado Island - a world away. Developed in 1888 as a beach resort town, and home to the famous Hotel del Coronado, the island is blessed with one of the finest beaches in the world and bathed in endless sunshine. Coronado today is a vibrant beach community loaded with charm.

“Clean, beautiful, everything nice”

The walk along the bay is first-rate: clean sand and clean bay water on the one side, shops/hotels/residences on the other. It takes longer than you might think, though, so leave time. Plenty of regular stores (i.e., modern large grocery) as well as specialty shops (bought a nice sun hat). I don't know how they keep the grime, litter and crime away, but they do a fabulous job of it - just a pleasure to visit.

“Part of San Diego and a world apart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

It is a wonderful paradise within San Diego, once you cross the bridge. Nice community, beaches, schools, roads, homes, hotels, shops. You can walk, ride bikes, see sunsets, admire foliage, enjoy the ocean, Eat, shop, hike, bike, swim, golf, all here.

“Dont miss this if you are in San Diego area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

I love Coronado Island. The shops, eateries, beaches, and scene is just marvelous. Take a day and enjoy walking the area. It is the same island where the Naval Amphibious Base is. Who knows, maybe you will see some Navy Seals BUDS class running by.

“Full of charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

We visited here on the Old Trolley Tram tour and could have spent the whole day here. The shops are interesting, there are plenty of bars and restaurants at all price levels and the beach is close by. The hotel Del Coronado is worth walking around - love to stay there some time!
