“Best hotel I've ever stayed at!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Beautiful inside and out. I had no complaints during my stay. The grounds are so beautiful that a whole vacation could be spent there. No bad reports for any of the helpful and friendly employees. Wish every hotel rental could be as positive as this one. Highly recommended.

This beautiful hotel is in a perfect setting, including the flamingoes out the front of the hotel. A short walk to the ferry to mainland San Diego, but no need to leave Coronado or the hotel as there is plenty to see and do and in such lovely surroundings. Our room was wonderful, so light and airy with a balcony.

Just being on Coronado is a huge plus, but the 10-minute walk to the ferry and the bay view made out stay that much better. The accommodations were far more than acceptable and the resort (pool, not tub, bar, restaurant, etc.) added to the experience. We felt a touch nickel-and-dimed on a couple of things and so five stars were out of the question. But we departed feeling like this was a great alternative to staying at one of the big city hotels.

Thank you for staying with us and for your comments, we truly appreciate the feedback. Our apologies if you felt some of our ancillary charges were too high; I will personally look into the charges and ensure that the expenses are similar to other San Diego Resorts; if not we will adjust. Once again, thank you for staying with us, we appreciate it.

Sincerely
Tim Herrmann, General Manager

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff were extremely helpful and all had very contagious "sparkly" attitudes. The room was very clean and large. We had a room overlooking the pool area and had a fantastic view of the San Diego skyline. We didn't rent a car as we were able to take a water taxi or ferry over to San Diego walk or take public transportation to just about everything we desired. We will definitely stay at the Marriott Coronado Island Resort again!

We considered many hotels in San Diego but made the right choice by staying here. It is a beautiful hotel across the bay with lovely views of the city.

Our room faced the pool and was very spacious. The pool was good as was the gym.

We used the hotel ferry service which cost €6 each way which was convenient for getting around the city which we did by the trolley bus on a two day pass.
Breakfast was reasonable and there are two superb restaurants within walking distance.
The staff were excellent and booked for us.
The only complaint was the cost of the car park which was € 100 for three nights which we thought was expensive.

Room Tip: Pool facing was nice and quiet

stayed here one night before went to Sea World. The rooms are adjacent to the bay so amazing view in both day and night time. The room is gigantic with a big bath tub. However it hasn't be renovated for years, so there are visible scratch on the lock and the door frame is peeling.

Thank you for your comments and for staying with us. We appreciate your support and your feedback. I will personally inspect the room you stayed in and immediately replace the lock and refinish the door. This is more of a maintenance issue, which should have been caught by our team, our apologies, and less to do with the age of the room. We received a full room renovation in recent years which is supported by a state-of-the-art room maintenance program. Once again our apologies; this should have been addressed prior to your check-in; we hope to see you again!
Sincerely,
Tim Herrmann, General Manager

We got a deal on the Marriott Coronado off of Priceline for a very last minute getaway to San Diego. For some reason, I wasn't expecting much for it being a Marriott (envisioning a boring business hotel), but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel, located right off the bridge from San Diego, is in a nice location to give both access to Coronado Island and also quick access to San Diego proper. It's a bit far to walk to main drag of shops and restaurants in Coronado, but it was a quick (and lovely) drive over there. If you're looking to stay ON the beach though, this might not be the place for you, as you definitely would have to drive to get there.

The hotel is definitely more of a resort. Tennis courts and fountains (with flamingos!) line the entrance, and both the curbside staff and the front desk staff were friendly.

Our room was a big surprise, and was absolutely gigantic. We were only staying for one night, but it was the type of room that would have been great for a longer stay. It had a balcony, but our room unfortunately didn't look out over the bay and San Diego, but instead over the parking lot (and flamingos). We had a king sized bed, and it was really comfortable, though the pillow situation was a bit of an odd Goldilocks one. Giant decorative pillows or small "head" pillows, but no normal pillows that were just right...

The bathroom was huge -- all marble and very nice. The shower and tub were separate, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. There were plentiful towels and nice toiletries.

One slight downside was that the room had a strange smell to it -- somewhere between wet cat and mildew. I wasn't sure if this was a result of being located on the water or not. It wasn't so bad we had to change rooms, but it definitely was there. But the room itself was very clean, other than the smell.

Overall, it was a very nice stay. We didn't have meals or drinks at the hotel, but the bar seemed nice and had an outdoor patio with firepit over looking the bay. And the pool *looked* nice, but it was only in the 50s and far too cold for outdoor swimming.

One tip: parking at the hotel is $25 a day. But there's street parking as well right outside the hotel. We didn't have any problem finding a spot, even coming back at 1am on a Saturday, and were probably as far from the entrance of the hotel as we would have been parking at the back of the paid garage. So unless you have a hang-up about needing to park in special parking, save your money and park on the street! Even if you have to walk a block, it's completely safe.

If we go back to Coronado, we'd likely see about getting a room here again. The hotel wasn't an amazing experience, but it wasn't a bad one either.
