“Great girls weekend getaway!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

We were hesitant about staying on Coronado versus in San Diego but in the end we were so glad we did. The service at the hotel was top notch! Loved our time poolside with drink and food service, pace on the island was perfect and then 10 minute water taxi to seaport village and gaslamp quarter took us to night life we wanted! Great weekend away.

My husband and I just checked out 4 hours ago and we're still talking about going back in the future.
The location is great especially my husband's conference was in North Island - took him only 5 minutes from the hotel to the base gate. Place was quiet (Sunday-Friday). Rooms have lanai, ours was on the third floor with the water view, overlooking downtown San Diego. I sighted a lot of birds and ducks flying/swimming on the pond and walking on the trail. There was an unpleasant smell of the room carpet which you will notice as soon as you enter (smells like dry chem carpet cleaner), drawers also smell a little musty but I remedied the smell issue by Lysol room spray and bought a couple of freshness for the drawers. Houseeking staff did a very good job for the 6 days we were there. Parking is a little hefty, $22 for self-park, and more for valet. Staff were courteous and had pleasant demeanor. Food in the restaurant is okay but nearby restaurants were far better. We had a pleasant stay and we'll definitely come back. However, I just wish they'll improve the room smell issue.

We booked this hotel on Valentine's Day for the picturesque location and proximity to great restaurants. For the government rate, we were able to get a room on the 3rd floor with wonderful views of the bay from our balcony. The room was very roomy and the bed was very comfy. We had reservations at Pehoe's which was a block from the hotel. There was boardwalk access to the hotel but it was chilly so we took our car. The convenience of the parking garage was a bonus since it was windy and chilly. It was a short walk to the elevator down to our car. We were able to request a refrigerator for our fruit and wine. The bathroom had a nice tub and plenty of counterspace on the granite countertops. We loved our room so much we plan to book for Memorial Day weekend.

Room Tip: For proximity to the restaurants on the boardwalk, request the side of the hotel closest to the shop...

This Marriott has a very professional and personal staff focused on making your stay the best it can be. This place gets it for the business traveler. The location suits for access to all of San Diego and perfect for Coronado. The facilities are excellent but the characteristic that shows most off all is the focus on customer service.

San Diego offers a little bit for everyone. Staying on Coronado Island was perfect..it allows you to get away from the city traffic, and still drive to locations within 10 minutes. Get the private villas at the Marriott and you can simply drive right up to your room!

I will admit - I am a committed 'Marriott-phile' and have been for awhile. Marriott offers a consistent good value and always has outstanding customer service - a dying art in many customer service industries.... We stayed three days at the Coronado Resort and were not disappointed. The property is just across teh bridge from San Diego and backs up to San Diego Bay. We had a waterview that was reasonably nice; looking at the back of teh shipping warehouses is what the view is and that can't be helped but you get a scenic view of the ships coming in and out of the Navy yards there and other traffic in the bay. The hotel backs up to the path that runs along the bay and is a FANTASTIC place to walk or run; south heads to the Coronado Muni Golf Course and north takes you to a shopping and dining district within a couple of blocks. The room was top flight; small refrigerator, comfortable, up to date furniture and very tastefully decorated. The shower was the best I have seen in a hotel; individual controls for water (very good pressure) and controls - I think my wife will want one of these if we ever remodel. The hotel grounds are well laid out with numerous spots to relax and watch the bay, the traffic on the bay path or just catch some sun. Parking was fairly easy and ran $22 per day. The restaurant did a good breakfast but pricy - hint; if you're getting breakfast go for the buffet - @ $22 it was cheaper than what ala carte would've been for an omelet, eggs and bacon. Overall great experience; we'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed here Jan 25-27th 2012. This was our second stay.

The staff is exceptionaly well trained and friendly. Even though this is an older property it is in top condition. The service and food in the restaurants is outstanding. The views of downdown San Diego from the pool and bar area are beautiful. An excellent choice for lodging in the San Diego area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bay view
