Lots of free info and very informative! Mini booklets and an attendant can answer any questions. Well worth checking out either before you go or while you are there!

“Hotel Del Coronado walking tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2012

This is one of the few Coronado walking tour which allows you to go into the hotel. Viewing this grand old hotel was great and there so much history there - from presidents to filming of "Some like it hot". Our tour guid was very knowledgable. My two teenagers were kept interested by the various stories about the hotel. Some of the tour group even got to ride up the old-fashion elevator. When we got home we rented the movie "Some like it hot" to see the scenes from the hotel.

“Historic Tour of the Hotel Del Coronado a True Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2012

I took the historic tour of the Hotel Del Coronado. My guide was Tom, a retired Navy vet who volunteers with the center. He was very knowledgable about the hotel, and entertained my group with numerous tidbits and stories of the hotel in its grand ole days. It was very interesting!

A few little tips for my fellow travelers:

First of all side street parking is a must! The visitors center isn't extremely clear on where you should park, but there is free parking on most side streets or metered parking on the main streets. I suggest arriving an hour or two before the tour just to park and walk through some of the shops, but be warned most do not open until 10 am, so not too early. There are little boutiques and such up and down Orange Street.

Wear good walking shoes. They weren't kidding when they said it was a walking tour. Also, hold on to the receipt at the end of the tour, because if you return with it to the visitors center you get a discount on any purchase.

Overall, it was completely worth the $15 admission for the tour!
