This beach is a very clean and great beach to go to. You can visit the tide pools which the kids love to do and it is a flat beach where you can sit in the sand and enjoy relaxing but still watch your kids in the water. The older children can surf or body board. The town of Corona Del Mar is very nice also.

CdM State Beach is a great family beach. The large parking lot makes it especially easy for families with young children when you have to bring a lot of accoutrements. If you don't need the parking lot to haul gear, park on Ocean Blvd or one of the flower streets for free.

We like it closer down to Tower 5, away from the crowds around the fire pits.

It can be very busy on summer weekends and holidays, so get there early if you want to find parking.

We stayed near Manhattan Beach and visited several beaches near Los Angeles. We planned the day around visiting Corona Del Mar and were disappointed. It had a lot of piles of seaweed/tube looking all over and there were gnats flying around the piles. The beach is not a very long walk at all, so there wasn't much to do. It starts with a breaker of rocks and ends with some craggy boulders, so it is limited to just that area. Went there to soak up the March sun as we were on vacation from Chicago but this wasn't the right place to find a nice spot and sit down. There some locals that brought their dogs and they were not on leashes. Although they thought their dogs were so special that they could crap on the beach near us, we didn't agree. We paid for parking down near the beach which was not needed because there were places up on the street that were open. I preferred Manhattan Beach, it was cleaner, had a longer walkway and the crowd was more upscale.

This is a smaller beach in Southern California more designed for families & the elderly. It is very clean, and the waves are much smaller here than at some other Southern California beaches. Therefore, I do not recommend this beach to surfers, boogie-boarders, or knee-boarders.

We have visited this part of California several times. This is our first time exploring this beautiful beach . There is a fee for parking at 15 dollars however if you choose you can park on the street above the path to the beach and walk down . But to really enjoy a day at the beach the 15 dollars is well spent, you can bring a picnic lunch or you can go to the beach for a while and even return later after getting lunch somewhere in the local area. During the summer it probably is very crowded but in October the beach was not crowded and leaving and returning did not pose a parking problem at all . There are good bathroom facilities and it is a great beach for playing in the surf or just walking along the beautiful sand and enjoying the scenery .Outdoor showers are available.
