I have a friend who works at Fender and their visitor center/museam is really cool. There is a gift shop and a tower of guitars signed by rock legends.

After hearing about this brand new attraction in a Fender news release I decided to take the family in for a quick stop on the way through Corona en route to a family vacation. What I thought might be a place to stretch the legs for maybe an hour or so ended up being a stay of 3+ hours and we could've stayed there longer! The place is chock full or Fender, Jackson, and Gretsch guitars, as well as Fender amps. Everything from historic pieces to most of their present day line. All that is cool enough but it gets even better. 90+ percent of the guitars in there are available for you to take down, go over to the sound room, plug into an amp and play! How cool is that? Inside the visitor center you can also not only buy the kind of stuff you'd expect: T-shirts, coats, hats, & picks, but also a ton of other Fender gear such as stools, wall art, and even order/buy guitars.

The factory tour. If all the above isn't cool enough, the factory tour adds another level of coolness to the place. Arguably one of, if not the best tour of its kind I've ever been on. They take you through the entire factory, save for the paint shop (contamination avoidance), even through the legendary Fender Custom Shop work area. A few important notes about the factory tour: Closed toed shoes are mandatory; they currently only conduct two small tours a day i.e. limited to 10 folks per tour; they don't conduct factory tours every day. I highly suggest checking their web site: fender.com/visitorcenter prior to making plans to go on the factory tour. The guide stated they were actively engaged in the process of tweaking the factory tour since they were just getting started and demand was starting to build.

The entire Fender Visitor Center complex is large, modern, clean, and classy. It is worth stopping in even if you don't want or can't get into the factory tour part of the experience. My hat's off to Fender, this entire attraction really does justice to Fender Guitar history. Oh, I almost forgot.....as of right now it's FREE! The place is an absolute must for any guitarist. Personally, I can't wait to get back there and spend more time soaking it all in and trying out some awesome instruments that I may otherwise never would have the chance to handle. Kudos to Fender!
