“Italian hideway in the Sierra”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

We arrived (all ten of us) around 8pm on a Wednesday after spending a day out on Lake Melones. No reservation was no problem-we were seated immediately. The food was quickly prepared, tasty and generous, with no room left for dessert. The asparagus wrapped with proscuitto appetizer was divine! The server was good and attentive to our needs. A few local bottles of wine were available, but pricey, so we opted for a well known brand instead. Our only complaint was the "heat" in two of the ordered entrees. When they say it's a little spicy, they mean, "HOT". Two of our group found that a little disappointing and asked for extra bread to counteract the heat. Overall, this was one of our better meals in the Sierra.

“Expensive and disappointed”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We went to Panini's for a birthday dinner for my father. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. It looks clean and nicely appointed. The menu had a good selection and they offered a daily special. The staff was friendly and started off well. The problem came after we ordered. The waitress was inattentive. She did not check on us to keep us supplied with drinks, bread and a status (more weight on the status). I bring up the status because our order took almost 45 min to get and this was before the dinner rush, We went in at 5pm and there were only a few tables filled at that point. The waitress did appologise somewhat by saying when we finally got our bill that there was a new cook and thanked us for waiting. (would have been much better to communicate that an hour ago) The order we got was in-correct in that one plate had the wrong pasta for the dish and the special we got that included a desert (the desert) got changed to a torte that I did not like (this dislike was more personal than that the dish was bad). Over all we were there for over 2 hours and had to get our desert to go. The food was good, but not outstanding. The service was poor considering the bill, the wait was way too long and the waitress was very inattentive considering the wait on our meal. There are not allot of dinner choices in this area and I feel that they are taking advantage of the situation. For the price of our meal, I expect much more for my money.

We found a great restaurant in this small town. The food was delicious, the service was great and we enjoyed the patio dining.

“Earlybird & cleanliness disappointment”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

We stopped for an early dinner and were pleased to see the "Earlybird Special" advertised at the front door for $15.95. We asked our Server about the special and were and were disappointed when informed the price was now $17.95, with the explanation the price had been raised but they forgot to change the price by the front door and would not honor the lower price. We decided to order two lower priced selections which were just okay. Other disappointments were the lack of cleanliness of the men's restroom with trash overflowing on the floor and dirty toilet. Our view from our table of the front door showed many finger prints on the glass. Not an appetizing view. It was a surprise to see these poor conditions at 5:30 pm with only a few patrons in the restaurant.
