This was great for our 3 and 2 year old. They LOVED it. We loved it too because it wasn’t crowded and it is a small space so you don’t get over tired with all the walking. The tickets do go fast though since we had to accompany them on all the rides. We spent $50 in tickets in about two hours. With snacks at the end, it was about a $75 for three hours. Super fun.

Driving to Pixieland in Concord, CA. is rather obscure because this junior amusement park is just past a residential area, which one would not suspect it to be near such an area. The park is situated and set up like a city park. Pixieland is geared toward the younger generation, which explains why the park has a focus on junior rides. Their ride lineup includes a carousel, train, Red Baron airplanes, Frog Hopper, and Tea Cups. One of the most bizarre, yet shocking rides in Pixieland is a nostalgic Musical Ferris Wheel (manufactured by Elektro-Mobiltechnik, which is now Merkur Kids Gaming); the last time I saw one of these rides was in the mid-90s at various stores like K-Mart, TG&Y, etc!

Flying Dragon Coaster is manufactured by Wisdom Rides, which is based in Merino, Colorado. One of Wisdom’s classic thrill rides is the Gravitron! Flying Dragon has the exact same layout as Tiger Trek at the Oakland Zoo with a spiral lift hill, small initial drop, swooping left drop with a small helix, and a left turn before the station. The theming is a dragon train that goes around a couple of trees, real and faux, and a rider can obtain two circuits with two ride tickets. Even though the layout is the exact same as Tiger Trek at Oakland Zoo, the ride experience is just as good.

Overall, Pixieland is a cute park, yet needs more to cater to a broader audience. At least the coaster “credit” is very affordable for the price you pay (i.e., $4.50 for two tickets) compared to that of other parks that have a pay-per-ride schedule.

My Park Ratings:

Excitement: 3 (good)
Variety of Roller Coasters: 0 (the park has one coaster)
Unique Flat Thrill Rides: 0 (one thrill ride exists)
Seat Choice: 5 (guests can choose any row/seat they wish)
Roller Coaster Re-Ride: N/A (tickets must be purchased)
Park Cleanliness: 5 (the park is quite clean)
Staff/Operations: 5 (the staff is very friendly, and operations are great)
Water: 3 (the taste is normal city water, but is cool)
Food Prices: 4 (prices were reasonable for the quantity and quality)
Park Map: N/A
Website: 5 (very user-friendly)
Affordable: 5 ($45 and below; current pricing as of (CAO) 27 May 17 shows $2.25 per ticket, and riding the coaster takes two tickets or $4.50)
Parking Prices: 5 (parking price is $10 and below; current pricing for parking is free)

Overall: 53/16 = 3.31 (Needs Improvement—3.00 to 3.50)

My Roller Coaster Ratings:

The five ratings are as follows in this order:

1. Coaster Excitement
2. Elements
3. Uniqueness
4. Smoothness
5. Theming/Storyline

Flying Dragon Coaster: 3/2/1/5/2 (13)—This coaster is basic with a dragon theme.

Nice place, small but little kids loved it. A but expensive for extra tickets if you have a lot of kids but otherwise not to bad. Snack bar was just ok

Pixieland is a hidden treasure in Concord! Rides include a train, a carousel, and a roller coaster! Pixieland is next to a park with a pond where you can feed the ducks.

Fantastically fun place for young children. Fun people and nonthreatening rides for children. Best for ages two through 12.
