“Simply wonderful!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

"I travelled with my wife and two children in May 2014. The rooms were very clean and bedsheets were changed every day. The staff was super friendly and we made many new friends. About the sea. It was a little cold, but clean nevertheless. The breakfast selection was just superb and I think we all gained a bit of weight in the week we stayed at Alexandros. Our favourite place was the Taverna. Good, old Greek, traditional recipes and the prices were very normal. Very likely to return next year!"

Room Tip: If you can have a room with a sea view, I promise it totally worths it!

We spent 6 nights at this hotel. I can say that despite all the bad reviews, the rooms are cleaned every day, all the staff are smiling all the time, they speak english. There is plenty of food to chose from (both breakfast and dinner).
The beach is not very large and also not very clean... but the pools are great.
You can make trips to Ouranopolis (7 km), from were you can take a cruise trip to view Mount Athos.
Maybe it's not a 5 stars hotel, but it definitely deserve 4*.
We enjoyed staying at this hotel, and hopefully we will return.

I spent a long weekend at Alexandros. Room was spacious with a good size bed. Nothing special but fairly comfy. I had some problems with the AC but an engineer came and repaired the unit. Beach is a good walk away from the hotel and I had to fight for two deck chairs despite the fact I was a guest of the hotel. Breakfast very poor with hundreds of loud tourist and angry children shouting. Overall I wasn't very impressed and I would avoid the place next time I visit Ouranopolis.

Dear Mr. Alexandru P.

thank you for taking the time to write a review about our establishment. As a hotel, we take our customers opinions very seriously and we value the feedback.

Regarding the fight about the chairs on the beach, we are very sorry to hear about such an unpleasant experience. In the unfortunate and unlikely event of a fight with another customer, we encourage our guests to consult our staff which is ready to give a solution in every problem.

About the breakfast buffet, it is a surprise to hear negative feedback about the selection of food provided, as we comply with the 5-star menu regulations and cover the full array of breakfast options in a 20+ meter long buffet. Sadly, when customers choose to dine all at the same time, there might be temporary lacks in certain foodstuffs, but they are always replenished in a short time.

Lastly, regarding the loud tourists and angry kids, although our staff is making every possible effort to provide flawless service, the social conduct of our guest and their children is something that we sadly cannot fully control. However, we apologise that this incident negatively influenced your holiday experience with us.

We are continuously working on improving our services and we sincerely hope to see you again in the future.

Best Regards

Firstly - I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. When we arrived at the hotel for a seven days vacation, we were accomodated in a room just for one night because of a mistake with the reservation. As a compensation, the receptionist explained to us that the room in which we have to stay only one night is bigger and more luxury than the type we payed. What a surprise? when we entered it was a disaster - dirty and shabby room and the AC wasn't working. Can you imagine, Greece, 5 stars hotel and no conditioning....It was terrible.I complained immediately and the manager of the hotel offer a set of fake compensation - free use of spa center without massages (at the website it is advertise as free), full board instead halfboard for one night - we have reserved HB beacuse we prefer to eat on the beach so it doesn't make sense to us to have FB; free massage for one person - when we try to make a reservation the receptionist explained that is poosible only between 11 and 14 - usualy that is the most suatable time for beach - so it doesn't make any sense again. All that describes very well the attitude to customers at that hotel - cheaty and non professional. I explained to the manager that all I want is normal room looking like those on the web site, nothing more than i have payed for. The second room we took was in the rennovated part and it was good but be careful beacuase only the room in that part look like what they advertise. The other rooms which present more thah 50 % of the hotel are like the first type i have described. Few words for the beach - the water is not very clear, there are sea plants in it, which is not typical for Greece, the sand is mixed with small pices of wood, the sunbeds are dirty and definately not enough for all guests. The reataurant - another surprise - there is dress code - men can't wear short trousers but the atmosphere is not even like a free stars restaurant - the waiters are so slow, the tables are dirty and you have to wait all the time to take free and clean table (if you ask to be clened of cource) and long queues for almost all type of dishes. One good thing - there are variety of food with decent quality. The outdoor swimming pools are also good. In a nutshell - if you have a good room in the renovated part (when you make reservaton there is no warning about that), if there is no mistake and you don't have to change you room - it's not a disaster but anyway it is not a five stars hotel and you can find better place to spend you vacation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the renovated part.

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are very sad to hear you had an unpleasant experience and we assure you we are continuously improving our services to suit the needs of our clients.

We are also sorry to hear that the compensation for the misunderstanding was not up to your expectations. Please note that use of the Spa is not free. What is free, is the use of the gym.

Our beach is meticulously cleaned every year with professional equipment, however Mount Athos is a nature reserve and the beaches are not the typical Greek beaches. They offer a sometimes unconventional, but rare beauty to their guests. Our beach is proudly awarded with the Blue Flag and you can rest assured that the quality of the water is high, and certainly much higher than overpopulated areas in other Greek districts.

Best Regards

This hotel is good 4 star hotel. The appartments and family rooms are very good, spacios and comfortable. All the appartents have nice position and sea view, The double rooms are on the upper position of the compex so they are little bit far from the beach. The food is also very good. A beach is 150-200m from the hotel and it has nice beach bar but for the hotel with high category it should be much more clener. My advice is to go vor a visit to Island Ammouliani, its has wonderfull beaches.

We've just come back from a 5-days break at this hotel. We've received what we had expected- good weather, new and clean room, smiley service and quiet atmosphere. We have been accommodated in the new 800 building which I would recommend, ground floor ( both sides- pool or bank view are fine). End of September the private beach (stony) was not so crowded, however, not so clean too.You have to order a drink even this time of the season to get a chair and a parasol, otherwise you pay 5 Euro charge.
Food at HB was fine, just a lack of seafood dishes. The fruit was also not the best variety.
The only really downside was the entertainment. In fact there was non existent. At the reception was a weekly program over entertainment starting at 9 pm. We went every night to the bar next to reception hoping to find an event at least for one night. We asked the receptionist why there is nothing happening and we've been advised to talk to the resident DJ Simon. It was a lack of enthusiasm when we spoke to him bordering damp right rudeness. We don't expect from a five star hotel employee this type of attitude. We were told prior to the holiday that there will be at least two nights entertainment which was confirmed via email by the hotel to the travel agency.
Regarding the location of the hotel: you will land in the middle of nowhere if you fly- there is nothing close by. If you go by car, this is also not a lot to be seen around- it is a small pleasant holiday village Ouranoupoli nearby, and there are trips available in the area. All in all, this is a perfect place to chill out in the sun- either on the beach or around the pools.

Room Tip: 800 building ground floor either side.

First of all, 5 star hotels are DREAM for the owner of Alexandros hotel, or like in the past Alexandros Village, village maybe yes 5 star hotel NO!. Who give a ground room in a 5 star hotel?!?! Its terrible all the guest to pass your terrace and to LOOK! Really NON cultivated Bulgarians, Romanians and Russians. In front of our apartment in the grass there was the drain from the toilettes, smelled like hell of Sh.t all day and night. The poll bar is closing at 18h which is for me very nice thing if you are 10 meters from it, but the Bulgarians in the night with drinks from the mini market occupied the bar and with the yelling kids staying late in the night. When i tried to call reception and to complain, i had a text prepared , the phone did not work :(((( The food is ok, but please dont put me leftovers from yesterdays dinner in my lunch! The drinks are expensive 4 eur for 400ml beer (and half they are doing with foam) so its 200 ml, at the beach also expensive, for a coca cola can 3.5 eur. (for comparison in my country its 0.25 cent in the store) the beach has no sand, until you half a meter in the water the stones will kill your feet, so better take some swimming shoes, wind is blowing like hell, so for small kids its a no go! So...DONT GO! Not god for the price! Away from everything else....like in prison!

Room Tip: Just dont go!
