“An old time classic, but really really tired”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

Steven's is one of the only choices in the limited dining City of Commerce, south of downtown LA. The restaurant appears to survive on group celebrations and business lunches during the day, and locals dining out on the weekend. After a few visits it's clear that they have a niche, which is so-so food presented in a faux classic way, with no windows, red leather banquettes, and harried wait staff. Since it seems dark inside, it also feels a little dirty.

The food is well prepared but the quality is only a "B" level, and not a good value for what it is. Overall it's just OK, but there are better choices in the area.

“Don't go if you're in a hurry, this lace s real laid back”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

This is an older looking place with a security guard in the lot. Guess it was OK to put my iPad in the trunk as we parked right behind the security guard!
Once inside, the decor inside is dated but kind cool. Waited in the booth for a bit for the waitress who was running back and forth. Maybe someone called in sick or something, but she apologized when she got to us and it really wasn't that long of a wait.
We ordered the salmon and the calf liver, both were very good. I wanted to try the filet but it only comes in a 12 ounce size and there is no way I could eat all that!
I would recommend Steven's as our experience there was good as was the food!

We have dined here several times and always get the Mediterranean Platter which easily feeds two people. Lobster, crab legs, fried scallops, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and bacon wrapped shrimp, surrounded by tomato, avocado and lemon wedges. It was great.

“The Biggest, Tastiest Prime Rib I have ever eaten!”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

My wife and I have been eating here for most of our 42 years of marriage. Birthday's, Anniversaries and just a great dinner adventure out on the town, often before attending the Theatre. If you love Prime Rib, Big Jim's special is for you. 32 oz of pure delight. The wife enjoy's the Twin Toronados of Beef Tenderloin (Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon). We generally start our evening with a fine bottle of Red Wine, Merlot or Cabernet, wineries are either-BV, Sebastiani, Louis Martini, Robert Mondavi, which are some of our favorites.

An order of hot melting Cheese Bread and Crab Stuffed Mushrooms is mandatory! With a great salad or French Onion Soup, and then every dinner includes Jim's famous Spaghetti appetizer, with an incredible sauce. Normally we are already well on our way to being full by the time dinner arrives. Then you get the an enormous portion of food, and there is definitely no room for desert, although there are some incredible selections of Cheese Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate, etc. and after doggie bags are filled, sometimes we share one, with a marvelous cup of coffee, served with Cinnamon sticks, whipped cream and dark chocolate chunks. Now the big task is getting to the car, we can hardly walk. Just simply too much joy!
