The towels at this place are as good as what you would expect at a Hilton or Sheraton. Soft and fluffy. The television service is not good at all. No sports channels! There was plenty to watch on the many cable stations to which they subscribe but no ESPN, Fox Sports, etc.

The room was large and Spartan. The bathroom was pretty small and the tub had a drip. The front desk was friendly and helpful and offered a handful of chocolates and pastries when you check in.

Excellent property, in keeping with the character of this historic area. The room was well furnished and in room 29 there are two bedrooms, we had just booked a twin bed room but were given this one as their best, being there for three nights.

It's well equipped with TV, fridge, microwave, table and chairs in the front room, as well as an extra free standing heater. Parking is right outside the door, it's also well away from the main road. The furnishings were excellent and very much reflected the charm of an earlier period, most in keeping with this area.

It's the most convenient accommodation in the town for the State Park, you can just walk there and leave your can at the Motel. It's also within walking distance of the Mexican Restaurant, we didn't find any other options that were open during our visit.

Great accommodation at a real bargain value price, would most certainly stay there again next time I visit the area.

Room Tip: Room 29 has two bedrooms, bathroom, TV, fridge, microwave, table & chairs, extra free standing...

I stayed there for a week and I was well taken care of! The staffing was polite and courteous! Most of all the TOWELS WERE THE SOFTEST TOWELS I HAVE EVER USED. I don't know how they do it! I have stayed in numerous high end hotels and suites and have never had towels like these. Place is very quite and I was able to relax and enjoy my time there. I will give them two thumbs up. Great Job on the Owners side. The rooms were well equipped with fridge, microwave, ac, coffee pot, etc. The bed was very comfortable not hard like some places. I was able to sleep with no problems. So if you are looking for a great place to get quality sleep, service, and the Softest Towels ever you must stay here.

Travelling on vacation just as the fires broke out in Yosemite. All of the hotels in Sonora were full with firefighters. Best Western called the Columbia Inn and helped secure our reservation. Ths Columbia was the only place not full and so I expected a disaster. Happy to say this gem was unearthed. New owners have upgraded this place in the past year. All new beds, interiors, etc. Right in the heart of historic Columbia CA. DVD's were available to check out at the office, FREE. The kids liked that. No smoking rooms, hot water in the showers, good pressure, dark chocolate on the pillows, huge coffee pot.... more than I expected. Recommend this as long as you're not looking for the Ritz-Carlton.

So we stayed here right in the middle of our home town of Columbia California. What we found was MORE than a pleasant surprise. Sense leaving Columbia in 2009 and moving to Oregon alot has changed, our favorite little motel has changed hands... and we all thanked god for our new friend and owner Miss Doris. The accommadation were more than satisfactory!! The room was homey ans well equipted for an extended 7 day stay. Included in was a full size coffee maker. Two King beds, nice soft sheets and glorious pillows that smelled Tide and Downey. Doris has added personal touches that you will not find in bigger hotels. The swimming pool was crystal clear and the pool towels were big and soft. Doris treated my 3 children as if they were her own grandchildren. If you want a comfortable and very clean stay that is also affordable while visiting the great little state park of Columbia California STAY HERE WITH OUR NEW FRIEND DORIS. Thank you Doris you helped to make our trip Super Special. Until next time the MEIER FAMILY.. ps bring your puppy we did.

Room Tip: We chose #28 which included two bedrooms with King beds, 2 blueray players, refridgerator, microwave...

Doris the owner is fantastic, and so is her big German shepard who greeted us warmly when we checked in over the Fourth of July holiday. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the Columbia State Historic Park which we highly recommend for an "authentic" experience of what it was like to be in a Gold Rush town of the 1850's. There's a small swimming pool and she has some floaties for toddlers. The rooms are clean and quiet with Air Conditioning. They provide coffee makers in the room and you're free to grab danishes from the lobby. There were a bunch of family-friendly DVD's in the lobby and I'm not sure if they charge to borrow them or not, but there's tons of great titles there in case your kids need entertainment. Our boy is 22 months so a bit too young yet. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Gold Rush country!

Took my two kids for a gold country tour, had a great stay at an excellent price at this hotel. On the positive side... Room immaculately clean. Kid friendly amenities... Pool, DVD player in room, DVDs and games to borrow in lobby. Fridge and microwave at no extra charge. New carpet, paint, linens, etc. Doris gave us a great price. The sound of the birds singing in the enormous pine trees around the property. Nice old fashioned feeling to it, reminded me of the motels we stayed at traveling when I was a kid, not the cookie cutter corporate places my kids usually experience. Cons... Pool was too cold for me, but kids could handle it. Exterior a bit tired.

Room Tip: Looked like they had some rooms on second floor in back that might have a nice view...
