Eight of us (4 adults, kids - 12, 13, 16, 16) were scheduled for an all day trip. Zephyr called us to say that they were concerned about the water being too much for the younger two kids. The water was running high & fast (13K CFS). They recommended that we switch to the 1/2 day trip (faster water was on second part of the trip) and would credit us for the difference. The 12 year old and one adult decided not to go & Zephyr automatically took the charges for these 2 off of my credit card. Zephyr also tested each of our swimming abilities (if you failed, Zephyr said that it would refund the $). Zephyr put safety BEFORE $!
As for the trip, a guide was in each boat and exceptionally skilled at having us enjoy the whitewater (but missing the areas that may be too much for us to handle). Jimmy (good to see some gray, experience, & talked to us before the trip), Jason (talked us the days before the trip about the water level), & Paul (our guide) were excellent before, during, & after the trip. The two ladies, Cris & Vicky, who we talked to on the phone were also very knowledgeable & friendly.
Finally, you don't need to bring a (water) camera on the trip! A photographer follows you from the road and takes tons of photos (I was expecting only 1-2 shots). You can buy a CD of the photos right next to Zephyr. The cost was $40, which I think was a great value...we bought one & I think all of the other groups did too...lots of laughter viewing them at the shop.
The only regret was deciding not to go on the full-day trip. Maybe next time.
