“Good and Bad”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We have just returned from a weekend in a Seawick Gold Plus 3 .We wanted somewhere to stay whilst traveling to the area for a family wedding.Traveling with a 5 and 3 year old we did not want to stay in a hotel so opted for here. First impression wasn't good although the park and its sister park tried to make an effort at the entrance there is such a vast area covered with close together caravans (3 sites together) it looked like a concentration camp or caravan grave yard. Not helped by the big iron fences of the neighboring Hutleys site. The people however were very friendly and our caravan had everything in it we expected ,bedding was clean . The walls and carpets were well worn but not dirty. A few of the kitchen bits needed replacing or going through a dish washer but had been washed by hand (see photos). We were there for such a short time we didn't try the entertainment but we did go to the sister park indoor pool which was lovely and my daughter loved the flume. Only thing I would say was that there was only 4 changing booths in the height of summer. The little outdoor pool looked lovely but a bit small for the amount of caravans. There was ample room for ball games and we found several play parks at and within walking distance of park. I did not like parking and having to walk through three rows back to the caravan, I much prefer to park outside the van your in but that was available in some areas of the park. The shop seemed to be running down its stock ,but the neighboring shops on the main road were good. The beach is an easy walk and a mixture of stones and sand and the Sunday market was good. To travel anywhere from the site you need a car,I saw no safe walking paths to the near by village. All in all it was good value for money as it was cheap and cheerful, but would i go again probably not .

We booked this caravan park for a week, family holiday including my 4 year old. We booked a silver plus standard caravan described as modern and contemporary. We were located more or less on the site car park and therefore noisy and intrusive. On entering the caravan itself the bedding provided was dirty, stained and disgraceful. We complained and got moved to another caravan that was no better. The fridge in the second one had hair on the fridge and food left in there. Clearly no cleaning completed properly.
It was so bad we refused to stay there and spent the night in a hotel and booked a different holiday at the last minute! There was no way my 4 year old would be staying there!
We have had caravan holidays before however this site and standard of caravans at this site is very poor.

I would strongly advise any family with young children thinking about staying here to really research this beforehand.

Plus points first - Accommodation (Bronze Plus) was very good and the Entertainment Team first Class even though they could only do general stuff for the kids rather than age group related due to their meager resources - Thats all the plus points I am afraid.....what can I say except this was our first and last visit to a Park Holiday Site!!! The food throughout was sub standard both at the Seagull and Breakfast (Please dont call it a Full English cos it isnt!!!) The Pool small with no use of the paddling pool nor the large tap and the life guards useless to say the least.. The Bar Staff in the venue were inadequate - so much so that I had to tell one that it was the end of a barrel and how to pour drinks as well...also the first time at a bar that the staff tell you to come to them rather than they walk over to the paying customer (Why oh why do they take the money first before serving your drinks as well!!!) We played Crazy Golf whilst there and had to clear the course of woodchips ourselves before we could even play...I could go on about individual days and events but the above covers it all. We were not the only ones unhappy and I know others will be carrying out their own actions...as for ours...We will be holidaying elsewhere in future!!!!

Thank you for reviewing Seawick Holiday Park, It was disappointing to read you did not enjoy your stay.

For guests who have purchased our Flexi-dine breakfast option, we provide a breakfast station allowing guests unlimited toast, cereals and fruit juice. Additional breakfast items can also be purchased for 50p an item.

In all our bars we operate a queuing system for guests using the bar. During your stay we were training two new members of staff, and as you can imagine they were nervous on their first shift so apologies for any delays incurred.

Our team of maintenance operative conduct a full site inspection daily. Had you made the office aware that bark was on the golf course we would have definitely arranged for this to have been cleared allowing you to enjoy your game.

Thank you again for your review, the points you have raised have been brought to the attention of the senior management team and we will address the issues highlighted going forward.

We arrived at Seawick after a long drive and as we'd booked the "Gold" caravan we were allowed in from 2pm. The staff on reception are helpful and gave us the keys. The caravan was just behind reception and on a main road that runs through the camp. The caravan was lovely and so much bigger than expected. This caravan had been adapted for a wheelchair user so we were surprised we'd been given it but no complaints from us due to the extra space at the front and inside. The only bad point was the location as we constantly had people walking past the caravan late into the night from the club and could hear the music from inside the club. We had 2 kids with us age 12 and 13 so the kids entertainment was not for them but we felt safe on the site to leave them to their own devices (on a curfew) as most kids there of the same age were doing the same. The amenities on site were good, the shop wasnt as expensive as you'd expect and had most of what you need but we shopped at Tesco which is a short drive away. The leisure passes are a must to get into "The Venue" where the entertainment is as there are door staff on duty checking them and if you venture to St Osyth Beach for a swim don't forget your passes. The pool
at Seawick is very small and for the size of the holiday camp you'd expect a bigger or another pool. You can use the indoor pool at St Osyth beach but it is 1/2 a mile walk away. We used st Osyth pool a couple of times when it was adult only swimming around 9am as it was peacefull and i think that Seawick should do the same maybe between 0900/1000 where adults can use the outside pool before opening it to the kids at 10am or build another pool as its really not big enough. We went self catering and had all the pots and pans etc we needed but it was into day 3 that we found that 2 of the pans hasn't been checked by the cleaner as they were both full of food and not cleaned. The shower flooded but this was down to the drain not clearing. We did have other teething problems that we have reported to the reception staff on leaving. We had drinks in the main room The Venue and also used the pub on site The Seagull. There is a bar a few doors down from The Seagull called The Tudor rooms and we went in on a karaoke night and had a good laugh. We went in a couple of times after this and it was much quieter but the ale is cheap so my husband was happy. The beach at St Osyth is pebbly so we didn't spend too much time there as we travelled to Brightlingsea where there's an outdoor swimming pool (not heated and freezing) right on the beach and a family ticket
cost £9.95 bargain. The best beach is Frinton and its lovely and highly recommended and take a picnic. We've holidayed with Park Holidays in the past and have found the entertainment really good, at Seawick it's typical holiday camp entertainment but some of the sessions advertised in the schedule at Seawick didn't happen "open the box" was one of them and on some nights the "cabaret" acts were more like karaoke sessions. There was an act brought in from outside and they were awfull and embarrassing with 2 women singing ( one of them spent the act gyrating when singing) and 1 man on a keyboard that were so bad we just laughed as we thought it was a comedy act but it wasn't, It was hard to believe they'd been paid to perform!! We went to a local pub in St Osyth called the Red Lion and the food is lovely and staff very welcoming. We also went further down the road to Clacton on sea to a lovely pub called The Queens head and again we highly recommend this place as the food was amazing and staff very welcoming. Overall our holiday was lovely and we'd go back. What the holiday site can't help is some of the idiots who holiday there who some of them you'd class as drunk "chavs" with their shocking behaviour wanting to fight with other adults and their "chavvy" kids who were also drunk who were also wanting to do the same with other kids and walking round the site with their "crew" trying but failing to intimidate other holiday makers. There are some staff to note who go out of their way to make things good at the site are the 2 ladies on reception, the men who are on site early in the mornings with their litter picker and bin bags cleaning everywhere, a couple of bar staff in the Seagull pub and 2 members of the entertainment team Brian and Howie good comedy act.

Im 12 , this was a great holiday Stayed here from 3rd of August - 7 th! Well where do I start... Johns bingo the biggest and the best! Would definitely go to johns bingo in the Funland palace ! Such good fun. Location was amazing with just a short walk to the beach! Also the local shop is a short walk too! The arcades are loads of fun with a range of machines to go on! The main club house is good with the entertainment team doing the most they can to keep your child amused ! Caravans are massive! If you like to crabbing the beach is great for that to! The only down side would be the resort only had a small out door pool... Also the local Hutleys pool now only allows you in if you have a pass! But you can go to the Neptunes pool down the road! All in all will definitely be going back! :-D.

We privately rented our caravan , which was great !!!! we paid extra for the passes to use the facilities kids entertainment and swimming pools etc, we were only asked to show them when using the swimming pools. The kids entertainment in the morning was aimed at 0-4 years but we didn't know this until the half way through the session but my boys 10 & 7 were quite happy just to colour in loopy and Cyril pictures but at 11 o clock they were going to make rockets but had gotten bored by this time some left. It's the same with the kids entertainment at night it seems aimed at under 7's. It all seems very dated playing old music " star trekking with the spitting image puppets " I laughed as it reminded me of when I went to another holiday camp about 30 years ago !!!! .... But my boys were quite happy playing on the park or the swimming pools,,, the out door was brill but we walked about half an hour to the st oysth beach one with was lovely butthe water slide wasn't open and had to queue for half hour to get in but we still had fun, the beach is ok and the boys thought the arcades were the best .... One thing that really pee'd me was that there was no tin opener in our caravan so I sent my son to the shop to buy one and he was sent to reception and they told him as we were private renting they wouldn't sell us one ....grrrr ... Would we go back yeah if I rented the same caravan of my friend as was cheap but I wouldn't have picked the park by choice .... !!!!!

Our entertainment programme is tailored to our guests and our Loopy club is run exclusively for 5 - 14 year olds.

I can only apologise for the confusion you experienced in trying to purchase a tin opener. As our park store were out of stock of these they will normally advise guests to contact the reception on the rare occasion of items being missing from their accommodation.

All inventory items are not available for resale, so this was why they were unable to purchase this.

Thank you for taking the time to review Seawick Holiday Park.
