“Mid Week day off.”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

This was a return trip the hotel, since our last review. I have to say I was very impressed with the front desk staff. The young man was very helpful and accommodating compared to the previous stay. They gave us the pick of the floor (maybe due to low occupancy) in the Picayune Tower.
I was not happy with the lack of engineering to fix or correct the heating issue in the room. Food was good as usual and the machines were hitting which is a change. I paid cash deposit for the room and got the deposit back the next day. All in All great stay. No real complaints.

Room Tip: Ask for nail correction at the spa salon for 5.00 and request access to the sauna and steam room not...

The location is beautiful, and the restaurants are very good. You have plenty of choices on what kind of food and the room service is pretty fast and they give you a lot of food.My husband and I have stayed here many times and we get the same problems every time we stay at this casino hotel. The front desk service is awful. They are rude and act as if you are a bother to them. The rooms are okay, it really depends on if your in the older or newer tower. The beds are pretty much the same in both.....very average. The walls are thin and the bedding in the old tower along with the television need to be updated. The newer tower is updated and very nice but the beds are the same. The rooms are clean and I like the products that they have in the bathrooms.Again the views of the mountains are beautiful and we can not forget the spa......very nice.

Room Tip: ask for the newer tower

We spent a couple of nights at Chukchansi resort in early October while we visited Yosemite. As others have mentioned this is a convenient location from which to visit the park as you are north of Fresno about 30 minutes and only about another 30 minutes to the park. The resort is isolated, but everything that you need is pretty much available due to having the casino with several dining venues. Since we were there during the off season the hotel wasn’t very busy and some of the dining options were not open during the early part of the week. However, there was a nice café and the buffet; both of which were good food, good variety and good prices. We stayed in the older, Chukchansi tower in a room with 2 queen beds. The room was large enough and clean, but didn’t have the updated amenities of the newer. Picayune tower. The free wi-fi worked great, which is something that you don’t find everywhere. Overall Chukchansi lived up to our expectations; no surprises either good or bad. It is probably one of the nicer places to stay in that area.

Room Tip: If you want a flat screen TV and other new upgrades get a room in the Picayune tower.

Stayed there this weekend for a quick getaway with my wife. The first thing that was apparent was that the valets were swamped. After about 10 minutes, we decided to self-park. There looked to be 25-30 cars waiting for the valet to park them. At the registration desk, we were greeted by a very stoic individual that, while not rude, was not typically friendly. There wasn't a sense of being welcomed by any of the staff that we encountered. We were assigned to the "Original Tower," and our room was clean and quiet. The bed was a little firm for my liking and somewhat lumpy. Not much area to set up a laptop. Wi-Fi provided at no charge. The restaurant food was average at best and the servers were pleasant. The casino area is smoke filled and very unpleasant for a non-smoker. It's doubtful that we will return here to stay in the future.

Stayed here with my wife on 9/9/11. Everyone was So nice except the front desk manager. The pool bartender, the pool help staff, the parking valet. Everyone accept the the front desk manager! What a jerk. We stayed in the Picayne Tower. The room was almost a Five star room. Everything was really nice. The pool was wonderful, and we really enjoyed talking to the young bartender. He was so nice and friendly. Ate at the Asian noodle restaurant. Great food and a lot of it. Eat there! You will not be dissapointed. Actully won a little money while we were there!! Had a great time. Would return again.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the Picayne Tower!!

Good: A very nice hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are a above average for a hotel/resort. Resort is well maintained. This is a great stop over if you are visiting Yosemite, 20 minutes to the gate, just over an hour to Yosemite Village (a nice drive).
My wife forgot some items of her's and the Resort not only saved the items they shipped them to us for free. This has never happened before from any other resort.
Bad: You can smell cigerette smoke, from the casino, all throughout the first floor/lobby. They need to put in a better exhaust system. It is to bad you have to go through the casino smoke to get to any of the resturants. Pillows are flat.
Overall: a very nice resort for a stay if you are visiting Yosemite or a mini Vegas vacation.

We booked two nights at the Chukchansi last weekend after another property fell through. We wanted to be closer to Yosemite (the primary purpose for being there was hiking and climbing), but this is the best we could do on late notice. We had low expectations. But this ended up being a great stay. The check-in went smoothly, although Friday afternoon check-in was congested with MANY guests, but the property handled it well. Security was good. The room was clean, well-maintained and comfortable.

Going down to the casino was a downer. Sooooo much tobacco smoke, I don't know how the workers (or guests in that area) even breath and not get sick. Lots of people with O2 tanks, motorized scooters, sometimes both, plugging slot machines. This makes me sad, and I don't know how this is sustainable. But it's not the tribe's fault. This is just how area gamblers are these days, I guess.

On the upside, the Chukchansi keeps the smoke and cling-clang of the casino out of the guest rooms. The casino is clean (except for the aforementioned smoky air in the casion and lobby). And the property is kept very clean overall. There are some food options that aren't too bad. The tribe can be proud of this property. I would definitely stay there again.

One tip: at sunset, go to the pool bar and watch the sun slip over the horizon with a glass of wine in your hand. Beautiful.
