The Andiamo Ristorante Italiano in Clovis, California, is located in a mall along busy Shaw Avenue. In spite of having the address it took a little effort to find the place in the area of the outdoor mall in which it is located.
The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a kind of faux-Italian motif; it seemed a little faded but that didn't dim the obvious popularity of the place to the many local folks who were dining there the night we visited the place - it was packed. Maybe because the restaurant was so busy, the service for our table of seven was below average. No one came around and asked if all of our orders were correct and whether the food was good, no manager nor the harried server, and no one visited the table during the meal to ask if anyone needed refills for ice teas or other beverages.
Two of the entrées for our group were veal parmigiana and chicken parmigiana and they were very well prepared and delicious. The Caesar salads a number of people ordered were also very tasty.
When the bill arrived we found an entry on the invoice for $1.50 up-charges for requesting angel hair pasta in place of the standard spaghetti for three of our orders. No mention had been made of the incremental cost for the substitute by our server when we ordered and, in any event, what was the justification for an up-charge for something as basic as a simple pasta change? We would have paid the additional $4.50 without hesitation because the issue wasn't the incremental cost; seeing that item on the bill inspired a lot of conversation when it was discovered, none of it good for a return to the restaurant at some future time. It was petty and detracted from the evening.
