“Character with a view”

This is a terrific place out in the countryside with amazing views when on the back deck in the late afternoon/evening. Stayed 2 nights and we had the Hermitage Room (very comfortable King bed and ensuite) which was very clean and full of character. Dotn think modern 5 star, think old country French Style. Breakfast is amazing and differently different but its a good meal to start you off for a day of wine tasting. The team are very helpful and even helped forward an eReader we left behind during our stay.
We also took the the "Weekday Escorted Winery Tour Package" option which Jocelyn hosted. We visited 4 wineries and had a ball. We could have possibly have fitted a 5th or 6th winery in but we took our time and had a long lunch by a river. Picnic lunch is included in package. Highly recommend it for a hassle free day. Make sure to ask to visit BobDog Wines (Appointment only) up in the mountains and Truett Hurst beside the river on the tour.
Nice to be able to sit outside with a bottle of Wine and a meal (takeaway we got from Cloverdale) and ensure the sun setting and country views tranquility.

Room Tip: Enjoy sitting outside in the evenings overlooking the Vineyard as the sun goes down.

We stayed in the 'Victorian House', which was like staying in a lovely family home. If you are looking for the Holiday Inn experience, then don't come here: leave it for people who appreciate traditional furniture and quirky old fittings. Even if it's old, everything works, and the three-course breakfasts are superb.

We wanted a week-day get away place and we will definitely come back. It is 2-1/2 hour drive and so worth it. The Victorian house is very homey and comfortable. We stayed in the main house. The breakfast was fabulous. We felt so at home sitting on the porch reading and overlooking the vineyard. Bellehop the cat, added to the ambience of the home away from home feeling! Definitely worth it.

A really nice place, where you feel welcome.

Nestled in the vineyards where you can really relax and enjoy nature. And what a breakfast to get, this place is truly a gem.

This B&B is really something to look back to when the vacation is over.

My husband and I had hoped for a romantic weekend away and what we got was a very disappointing experience. The inn is musty, the downstairs furniture is in desperate need of updating. It is in the middle of nowhere and yet we had three nights of interrupted sleep with traffic throughout the night. Although the innkeeper tried to be accommodating about breakfast, she seemed annoyed when we decided not to have breakfast because none of the selections appealed to us. And on the last day was downright rude when she told us as we were checking out, " I keep cooking for you everyday and you don't eat it. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the couple next door and downstairs. Beware that not every guest room has its own private bathroom. If you are looking for elegance and graciousness, this is not the place to stay.

What this reviewer neglected to mention about her three day visit is that they requested special meals, which we prepared for them. The first day they had planned a bike ride and I knew they would not be eating with us, BUT they SPECIFICALLY told me they WOULD be eating with us on days 2 and 3. On days 2 and 3, they walked RIGHT past the kitchen on their way out, and couldn't be bothered to let us know that they would not be eating. I was forced to follow them out to their car to find that out for myself. I dunno, call me stupid, but in my book, they were the rude ones.....

We found Auberge on the Vineyard via Groupon last year and enjoyed our experience so much that we chose to return this year for our Spring vacation. The location is wonderful for us, just north of Petaluma (where I get amazing vegan/gluten-free food at Lydia's Sunflower Center) and only a few bucolic miles from the healing waters of Calistoga. In response to the comments of the traveler who speaks of traffic noise, I say don't miss staying at this lovely B&B, simply stay in the quiet, well-appointed Carriage House. The two roads that converge are country roads that, in our experience, had little traffic. For us, that Auberge is located at the crossroads is a wonderful convenience. It is close enough to Highway101 to make it easy to access but far enough to feel secluded. Highway 128 runs right through Cloverdale. This road is a magical path that wends its way through rolling hills and tidy vineyards whether you go east to take the waters in charming Calistoga or west to the dramatic Mendocino coast.

I want to encourage everyone to stay in the room named Vouvray but I must warn you that doing so may spoil you for any other lodging. It has us. Vouvray's furnishings are beautiful and comfortable and the decor is most relaxing. Again in response to a review comment, my husband is 6' 6" and is completely comfortable in the Carriage House. We are so comfortable here that we plan to stay every year. Innkeeper Roxanne feels like a friend and her inn is a wonderful combination of antique charm and modern amenities. The Carriage House is separate from the main house, so we make ourselves really good French Press (provided) coffee in the morning and sit at the little table in front of the huge glass doors enjoying the expanse of vineyard and mountains before we even think about going down to breakfast. This is a wonderful place. See you next year, Roxanne....Jeff & Patti

Room Tip: The Carriage House is quiet, roomy and beautifully furnished. Vouvray is the ultimate in relaxing c...

Stayed here earlier this month for three nights, with two other couples. The most important thing to know about this B & B is that it is located at the junction of two busy country roads, with lots of traffic and noise, especially during early morning hours. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you!

The Innkeeper was not personally present during our stay, as she was away. The staff that remained were helpful in their roles, but the absence of the Innkeeper was noticable. Check-in was impersonal, with no Innkeeper to greet us. Rooms in the main house were not exceptional. Breakfast was OK, but not outstanding. The wine pass, included as part of the Groupon package, was useful.

As a Bed & Breakfast experience, this Inn did not meet our expectations.

I'm sorry that this reviewer did not enjoy their stay. In my absences, I have a fabulous staff who all work together to take care of the property, and it is extremely rare for us to receive comments that we are "impersonal". We have a self check in procedure here, which is clearly spelled out on our confirmations so it should come as no surprise. Included in check in information are a multitude of suggestions for drinking wine and dining in the area. This process is both a convenience for our guests who do not have to stress about getting here at a certain time, and as a strategy to help save my sanity.

In the four and a half years since we have owned this inn, we have received only 2 other comments about mediocre food. Since it's impossible to please everyone all the time, I will live with those odds because the thousands of positive comments we've read and heard about our cuisine more than offset the 3 negative ones.
